OK, with this car, of course there were a lot of funny things happened. You see lah, car also no auto lock. So u always either have to lock with the key or push that thing down from inside and smash the door from outside. And of course there were a lot cases where I locked the key inside!! So used to it, that I have a spare key in my purse so that when this happens, I won’t have to waste money calling locksmith. Now lets start the petrol story, guarantee make u ROFL (roll on floor laugh) hhaha..
On a fine Monday morning, as usual driving to work from TTDI to Damansara Heights. It was like 8+..jam hasn’t started. Happily passing by the Eastin Jam..then while going down the flyover…ehh..why suddenly the car so light one!! Step on accelerator, how come no reaction one…car slowing down…slow slow slow…and died…HOLY EVELY…Petrol sudah tarak lah!! My dear 25 yo car sudah kehabisan petrol and it didn’t give me the warning sign!!! You know ler so old liao how to give warning sign. arghh…Middle of highway, so many cars, I didn’t even dare to get down of the car. Put on the double signal. Hubby was in Penang.
Die lorr..first thing I called Frank.
He was like errrmm…”I’m going to work lah, and I’m so far what you want me to do? ” Oh ya huh..he was staying in Subang back then.
So I started to call Gerald (staying in Bkt Damansara), no answer.must be sleeping still.
Then called Chin Hon, he’s on the way from Puchong!!..OK..almost dying..
Then called Desmond, my ex-AA boss. He stays in Hartamas, and I bet he don’t go to work so early. Well…..He was at Eastin, stuck in the jam…it’s gonna take him sometime to come over. Nevertheless, he gave me hope!! He says, “no worries, I’m coming over..you just wait hoh”.
So nice right..and he’s damn leng chai kakaka..and not married too!! Ermm..sorry, I don’t have a crush on him like what someone did!! but still leng chai rite, who can resist . Just after I put down the phone, the LDP Ronda Truck came. Parked right in front of me.
The fella came down, “apasal moi? ”
ME: ermm..petrol habis lah..kena pam petrol!!..face already red so damn malu lahhh
So what happened, they towed my car to the nearest petrol station, that time don’t have shell or petronas beside Eastin, so it was the Esso at Jalan Kasah. I took down their number, thanked them. Then I call my boss tell him I’ll be late, car no petrol half way, now pumping petrol. After pump petrol, start the car….jalan went to office..hahah..when arrive there, had breakfast and told the whole gang…kena laugh like mad..
LESSON LEARNED: After this incident, I never left my car till the last drop of petrol, always pump when there’s still 1/4 left. But now with the Waja, I dare to gamble a bit and leave it less than 1/4 before pumping..I always monitor the petrol meter!! It’s a nightmare.
So that was the petrol story..how bout the diesel? When I first knew Daddy, he was then driving a Ford Ranger. Now no more lah, kena stolen..replaced by Honda Accord. This car is very special, cause it uses diesel and the car’s engine only stops after few minutes you take out the key. Usually when you pump diesel, you just leave the engine running..cause it’s pointless to restart the engine and also diesel burning or sparking point is lower..so it’s supposed to be safe to leave the engine on. So here goes the ever famous DIESEL story…
BF(now hubby) went to outstation to dunno where with his MCA kawan. So I took the opportunity to drive the car. This was before I got the RM4K car. Before he left, he told me, hey remember it’s diesel not petrol. Yaya..remember liao..so after work, I went to pump some diesel in, cause almost 0. Next 2 days I was happily driving the car. Then on a Saturday night, I went makan with bf’s mother (now MIL) and BIL & SIL. After dinner, I drove BIL back to BF’s house..MIL and SIL were in another car. So I told BIL, i stop by pump diesel first…Then we stopped at the Esso, next to the centerpoint McDonald’s.
As usual, off the engine..engine was still running…swiped the car, lifted the nozzle and put it into the tank..Started pumping full tank. Then the engine stopped, didn’t bother..was chatting with BIL.
And he asked, :how you tell if it’s petrol or diesel huh”…Ermm I was like smells different lorr..Then I sniff sniff..ehh..doesn’t this smells like petrol!!Then I turned around and looked at the meter. HOLY EVELY!!! How come the price is so high. Back then diesel was like RM0.70, so you always have more litres but less money. this the other way round..OMG!! I pumped petrol into the car. Instantly I stopped. I looked at BIL, BIL looked at me..die die…the last thing that BF told me not to do, and I did it. And it was fulltank petrol!!
I quickly went to the petrol attendant and told him, “I sudah pump petrol dalam kereta diesel. Apamacam huh?” He was pretty steady..came out and then said, “tak pa tak pa..nanti dulu, saya pergi panggil mekanik.” So there we were waiting for mechanics. Meanwhile BIL called MIL and told her bout it. BIL was really nice, he waited there and keep on reassured me that it’s OK, his brother won’t kill me with a parang. After 5-10 minutes, the mechanic came. So together with the petrol attendants and mechanic, they pushed the car towards the car washing bay…there was a drain there. Mechanic told me that they will drain out all the petrol and then pump in some diesel, drain out, and then diesel full tank..That’s the procedure.
What else, just stand, listened and watch him open up a cap from the bottom of the tank..and there goes the full tank petrol!! I think it was like RM70 petrol there. And the petrol attendants, some of them quickly took some pail and container and collect the flowing petrol, for their motorbike use. It took like an hour to 90% drain out the petrol..they even went on the truck and jump and jump at the back to shake the car up and make sure all the petrol was fully drained. Then he closed the cap, put in RM5 diesel…then they jump and shake the car again, this is to wash the perol residue..then the cap was opened again and all the diesel flow out.
After that, they pushed the car to the pump, and there we have another round of fulltank, but this time it’s DIESEL!! So all in I spent RM120 for gasoline one night, to fill up the same car. And I paid the mechanic RM100. After all the pumping, draining & pumping, I finally had the guts to call BF and told him.
BF: What!!!!! Stunned…speechless..I thought I….then he laughed at the back and told his MCA friend.
Pheww…he didn’t scold me, but I felt real bad for not paying attention when I pump the PETROL/DIESEL.
LESSON LEARNED: Since that incident, I never dare to pump it myself. I always ask the petrol attendant to pump diesel for that car. If not, I will call them and reassure myself by asking “Diesel hoh”. Even up till today, whenever I pump petrol into my car, I always double, triple, quadruple check on the price, the label, the nozzle. AND lastly, don’t go to stupid ESSO, they have the diesel and petrol next to each other without labelling, if not won’t kena lah!!
Well, I hope you had a great laugh and learned something from this post. Daddy and every of his friend and family sure did had a great laugh…and Mommy for sure will put on the mask everytime Daddy tells the story of PETROL & DIESEL.
