A new home finally

I’ve been contemplating to upgrade my blog to the latest version of WordPress, fearing that I might loose some post, etc. But after much procrastination, I’ve finally made it today. I’m now on version 3.3.2 and trying to get used to the new look.

I’ve also downloaded a bunch of themes to play with over the last week since I’ve decided to upgrade to 3.3.2. Looks like I’ll be busy for the new couple of weeks trying to figure out what theme I should use for my blog.

Till then, Happy Labour Day everyone!!

Frank: making history for a good cause

I still remember the first time I met Frank, he gave me the impression that he’s very stubborn. We first knew each other when he joined my company many years ago as technical support. Having just 2 things in common (fan of McLaren F1 Team and same surname) our relationship grew from colleagues to close friends. When all of us left the company, we still kept in touch with each other and to me, he’s like a younger brother which I never had. At times when I needed help, he will be there. And at times when he needed my help, I’d be there for him.

Frank started to be a marathon runner a few years ago. As a dear friend of his, I’ve always been supportive no matter what he does, although I was quite worried. Worried about his health and sudden change. Through many ups and downs, his effort has finally paid off. At the time when I left for Hong Kong last year, he started Running Lab at Tropicana City Mall. And he’s turning into a marathon star of late, appearing in radio and TV.

Two weeks ago, he told me that he would be participating in Comrades Marathon, the “down” edition, in aid of cancer research. One of the 2 representing Malaysians for the world’s largest, oldest and perhaps one of the most gruelling 90km ultramarathon race called Comrades Marathon, taking place on 3 June 2012 at South Africa.

When I heard about this, I was amazed and proud of him. Frank was once a cancer patient, diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma at the age of 12. Been thru alot of excruciating pain and fought cancer off with all his determination. And being an ex-cancer patient, he has decided to run for a good cause and benefiting CARIF (Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation).

I’ve had friends that died of cancer. Friends that recovered from cancer. Friends who lived to tell us the horror of cancer. For many years, there’s no cure found, but research needs to continue, in the hope that someday, we will have cure to this. If it’s not for my generation, probably for my children’s generation.

I have pledged my support to Frank and CARIF by purchasing the “special edition” T-shirt for TURCR (The Ultimate Race for Cancer Research). If you would also like to pledge your support, here are some ways you can contribute:

> New cigars <

Since we moved to Hong Kong, hubby has not splurged much on cigars due to the fact that each one can only carry 3 cigars into the country. He still has alot of cubans in his humidor and he hasn’t try any new ones of late. While I was browsing the internet the other day, I saw some padron cigar which I quickly sent him the link to have a look. But not sure if he’s considering getting a few to test it out.

> Playing drums <

My friend is a part time drummer. He used to play for some local band and asked me to watch him perform. Of course I never did show up in any of his performance *shy*. Now that he’s so occupied with his work, he has not been playing drums for a long time. Wonder if his skills are still there or he needs to get a new set of Hart Dynamics Drums.

> New media player <

I’ve been using QuickTime and Windows Media Player for all my life as they are so conveniently available. One comes with the OS. The other is used for MP4 streaming. But little did I know that actually there are alot of other sophisticated players available for us to use. Take for example vlc media player download. I’ve recently read a review about this product and seems to be worth giving it a try.

> Music Lessons <

Nobody in my family plays musical instrument apart from my brother. He used to play an electric guitar during his college days. And I dread the sound of it as it’s so loud, more like noise pollution to me. I’d definitely prefer the soft acoustic sound of classical guitars. I’m not sure if he would still play guitar now that he’s much older, I wouldn’t mind getting him a classical guitar for his birthday present.

> Website builder <

While we were chatting today, Sue prompted that our TwoPixels Website Theme has not changed for sometime and kinda outdated. Hence we started to discuss how we should rebuild the website and chanced upon the free website builder site that allow us to build websites for free. It’s amazing how simple it is. So we gotta get our hands dirty soon and hopefully can come up with a new site soon for our photography business.

> Man earrings <

A friend of mine recently told me that her husband’s bestie is getting married. And since he’s a kadazan, it’s only natural that he wears a earring (a culture for aborigines). So I suggested to her that instead of buying some other expensive gifts, why not consider a pair of Diamond Earrings for men. That’ll be absolutely gorgeous for that special day. She has informed her hubby about that and they are now looking for that perfect pair for his bestie.

> Tools <

Last week Mr. Hon tried to be the hero and fix the leaking pipe. But he forgot to off the main tap as he started using his spanner wrench to open the leaking pipe. As a result of that, the whole bathroom was soaking wet!! Luckily it was not flooded. In the end I had to wipe the whole bathroom dry while he fix the leaking pipe.

> More shoes <

Just when I thought those 5 pairs of shoes at home were enough, it’s definitely not!! Hubby again bought another pair of shoes to add to his collection. This round he ordered it from dc shoes. I thought only women has fetish over shoes, but seems like that’s not quite true. In fact I have even less shoes than him.
