When I was young and still single, one of my favourite pastime was to clean my room and rearrange the room furniture LOL. Don’t ask me why haha..but I feel that by rearranging the furnitures, it gives a good feel, like something new. Maklum lah can’t afford to buy new furniture, but by just rearranging it will make me feel good too. You know it feels like getting a hairdo or changing hairstyle once a while. That’s how I feel.

So 2 weeks ago, since no photoshoot and weekend quite free, I thought I should do something to the abandoned room. Kids didn’t want to sleep here, so dusty (no thanks to my maid!!!), toys all over the place, books not arranged properly…the list is endless. Hence I started the furniture rearrangement project :).

Here’s how it looks like previously, something like this, but with more mess (just imagine OK).

With just the bed, it’s quite OK, but hubs wanted to have that big table there, which took up alot of space!! Then we even put a shelf (courtesy of Tesco) on the table (since no more space right). At the window, we stacked up the Ikea chest so that all can fit into 1 room LOL. At the side, there’s also Ikea chest and the kid’s clothes rack was there too (can’t see the clothes rack cause I hid it under the bed).

Very cramp and I didn’t like it, especially having the table there.

So after living with this for almost 1 year, here’s what I did 2 weeks ago:

  1. Moved the table out and went downstairs (since they are doing homework downstairs, might as well lah)
  2. Pasted the Little Mermaid wall border on 2 sides of the room. Wanted to do this so long ago, but Mr. Hon keep dilly dally, so I do lah. It was actually pretty easy!!
  3. Rearrange the bed to L shape to free some space
  4. Moved 1 Ikea chest downstairs, Kept 1 Ikea chest under the bed
  5. Got a new curtain. Since this room will be Faythe’s room eventually, and she likes purple. got her a purple curtain with bees on it.
  6. And a few more arrangement to move the furnitures all to the side to create more walking space
  7. Moved the clothes rack right to the end

The photos are with alot of mess cause I practically dumped all the toys & books at one side while moving all the furniture, then sort them accordingly, asked the maid to wash all the washable toys (and the chest!!).

Basically I created more walking space.

And here’s the finaly result:

After sitting there over the weekends and a few nights (also shouting at the kids not to enter the room), here’s the finished product, before the next wave of messiness comes :P.

  1. Rearrange all the books according to category: Scholastics 1 tier, Hardcover books 1 tier, workbooks 1 tier, boardbooks 1 tier, puzzle based books 1 tier. I also gave away some books of which they’ outgrew to Jayden.
  2. Sorted out all the toys: 3 chest for masak masak (1 for food, 1 for plates, 1 for rest of the cooking utensils, all cutleries in a box)
  3. All the cars went into 2 smaller boxes and 1 of the chest, together with some bigger cars that can’t fit into the small box
  4. All robots into 1 small box and 1 of the chest, together with some bigger robots that can’t fit into the small box
  5. They had plenty of uncategorised toys (like those from McD, KFC, loose ones bought fr here n there). All these into 1 chest. I also put them in small boxes based on category (Kungfu Panda 1 box, KFC 1 box, Monsters vs. Aliens 1 box)
  6. Barbie dolls and her accessories all in 1 chest
  7. Faythe’s girlie stuff 1 chest (hairbands, bracelets, fake lipsticks, mirrors, etc)
  8. Puzzles 2 chest. Sorted out all the puzzles and each of them either in their own box or in ziplock bag LOL
  9. Blocks 1 chest
  10. Stringing materials (Montessori) & blocks puzzle 1 chest
  11. Placed the radio on top of one of the chest at 1 corner

Notice that I hid 1 chest under the bed. I decided to keep all the stuffed toys there since they don’t really hug them but occasionally likes to play with it (pretend play). So that their bed is not cluttered.

The chest which I’ve moved downstairs, I kept all the painting, colouring materials there. So anything to do with art, writing, drawing, all downstairs. Room is strictly toys and sleeping.

Oh and what’s with the giant chair next to the book shelf?

I moved that chair from my room to theirs. Since it’s sitting at one corner look so pathetic LOL and we only use it when we need to massage our leg with the iSqueeze.

Why put there?

  1. In case I want to take nice photos of them I can ask them sit on the chair LOL (no lah that’s not my initial purpose, just thought of this haha)

Actually when I was pregnant, I always have a wish that someday, I can have a nice lil corner where I can sit down and read them books while putting them to sleep. I happen to see alot of angmo photos have something like this.

So to make my wish come true, I move the chair there, right next to the book shelf for easy access. So I can read the book to them while they are trying to fall asleep on their bed *dreaming still, since haven’t even start retraining them*.

I’ve also placed a standing lamp beside it, so I can actually off the main light and leave that on..muahahaha…

The turtle on the chair is actually a night lamp that projects stars to the ceiling. Redeemed this from Credit Card Points :).

Few more things to complete the summer project:

  1. Over the weekend, went to Ikea to buy a flower shape lamp, need Mr. Hon to mount it on the wall where Faythe’s bed is. Will put this at the edge just next to the chest so that she doesn’t accidentally get tangled with the wire while sleeping.
  2. Hang up the Safety Poster. Need Mr. Hon to drill also
  3. I also want to use one of the wall to put some pictures (their art work or photos), still thinking where’s the right place

Note: If you notice, there’s something hanging down from the main light at the ceiling, that’s a Hari Raya Deco LOL. Faythe told me that it looks like Princess Jasmine’s Castle and we bought it last year. She wanted to hang it there, like the castle over the cloud LOL. Memang alot ideas.

OK, so now gotta start retraining again, hope they’ll sleep in this room…gotta have new strategy, anyone can share with me kids sleeping strategy that you have successfully implemented? Hope they don’t need any sleep aid to get them to sleep in their room.

a giant loaf of bread greeting us

I took half day off on Tuesday to accompany the kids to High 5 Bread Town, part of their school outing activity.

To be honest, I never want to miss any part of my kids life, watching them grow, from a baby till now simply amazes me. Although I’m a FTWM, I’m quite blessed to witness their many 1st in their life (not missing them). Also to admit, I’m kiasu lah LOL…want to take their photos mah

Vyktore looking bored in the class

And since Daddy is not around most of the time, I do feel that I have to play a part to document important events in their life so that when we are old, we can still remember what they did back those days.

Faythe, patiently waiting for the trip

We were all supposed to gather by 830am in the school. But after all the yakking, washing hands and what nots, finally at 9am, all the kids board the bus and hence begin our trip to Bread Town. Faythe was in Bus No. 7, Vyktore was in Bus No. 6. I followed Vyktore since he’s quite a handful, but to my surprise, he’s very good boy when he’s at school O.o. Mental note to myself, next year must follow Faythe.

Vyktore was pretty excited once we board the bus. I doubt he remembers us taking a bus last year to bird park. He’s pretty observant lately and ask alot questions along the way to the Bread Town.

Upon arrival, all 200 students and countless teachers & parents were crammed into the receiving area. Gosh, it was so stuffy and dark, some children started to get restless.

Kids getting restless waiting for the tour

We waited there for at least a good 30 mins, before the principal came and requested some of the older kids to go out to start the tour first, while the rest of the children sat there and wait. I’m glad that both Faythe’s class also stayed on together with Vyktore’s, so I could take some photos of Faythe as well.

I love his expression LOL. As though he stole the bread :P

Each of them were given Sausage Roll (new product of High 5?) as tea break while sitting impatiently for their turn. Vyktore only eat the bread. So I gave his sausage to Faythe, the sausage lover :).

Then suddenly, Vyktore said, “Mommy, I want pangsai (big biz)”. Oh no…

So I brought him to the toilet behind, but it was all squat toilet, he was so afraid he’d fall into the toilet bowl (though I was holding him), he decided to hold on to his bowels. Poor fella.

Preparing for a class photo. Look at Vyktore ^.^ (hide my face)

Wait punya wait, I think after another 30mins, we finally moved out from that receiving room and went into another side of the Bread Town, where there’s a huge fake bread and all the classes stopped there to take group photos.

This is Faythe’s class, notice her tilted head LOL.

Then the kids were being seated in a mini theatre and they put on a mini video clip about bread & it’s history.

Oh..this cheeky boy again!!

After the history session, the tour guide finally tell us that we are not moving into the Bread Town. 3 things you can’t do while you are there:

  1. No Food
  2. No Drinks
  3. No Photos

No. 3 was a bit potong steam for me LOL. But it’s a private company and their policy, so have to observe lah, if not next time you’ll see my face in the factory black list :P.

Touching the fake roti

The tour starts with some statues of people preparing bread, etc…all those that they show in the mini video clip, they made it real life!!

We also had a chance to have a look at the many types of toaster, slicer, dough kneading machine and what have you.

Then comes the hot & interesting part.

We were showed how bread are made. There’s a glass tunnel where we walk thru. On the left & right we can see the workers & all the machines. Seriously, it’s pretty much all machine made. The workers there are just doing QC.

It’s an eye opener for me!! Vyktore was amazed as well, looking at all those giant machines.

Before I forget, this whole trip is so hot!! It’s like we are in the oven itself getting baked LOL.

So after the whole bread cerita (took about 30mins) , we came out to the souvenir shop, where you can buy High 5 products for a cheaper price. Luckily I didn’t buy, cause each of us were given goody bag (I brought home 3!!) consisting of: 1 loaf of bread, 2 cream buns, 2 mini cupcakes & 2 slices of fruitcake. So much so for my ab workouts, all this roti gonna kill it!!

On our way home, Vyktore ate the corn cream bun. He’s a roti lover, he can even it ‘em plain!!

Time to go home, all so tired and stuck in the jam pulak. I almost fell asleep in the bus, but Vyktore keep on disturbing me..sheesh….

I guess it’s an enjoyable trip for them, as well as for myself. But I do feel that alot of time is wasted sitting around doing nothing. I seriously think that this school they should split their school trip. There are just too many students and it’s not easy to do all those co-ordination.

I bought some DIY popcorn from Jaya Grocer recently. Faythe has been bugging me to cook it but since we didn’t have any DVD session at home, I waited for sometime.

Few weeks ago, we were supposed to go for Ironman 2, but we were late to arrive at the cinema, hence the ticket were released out. The kids were rather sad that they couldn’t catch Ironman 2 on action that week.

So after that we went home and I continue to catch up with my TVB series. But to make up for it, I decided to microwave the popcorn. Actually one of the reason they like to go cinema it’s because of the popcorn.

It’s pretty easy, just throw the whole packet into the microwave oven, set it for 5 minutes and there you go. Within 3 minutes, you’ll hear it popping in the microwave oven.

Faythe & Vyktore were really anxious and excited hearing the popping sound.

Once done, I just open the bag slightly to let the heat out and it’s ready to eat.

This is a salted version and we all love it.

Nevermind that we didn’t have home theatre seating at home, we still enjoyed the popcorn and my TVB Series as though we were watching movie in the cinema.

Interested to get yours? Go get a pack today :). There are 3 packs in a box, if I recall correctly, it cost around RM10. Cheaper than cinema :).

they are absolute darlings when they are not fighting…

Recently, my personal life have been quite fulfilling as we have slow down shooting to the extend of only having 2 shoots this whole month. Fulfilling as in I get to walk my life more laid back and spend more time with my kids. I also need not rush photos for customers. No pile up of photos to be edited. I even had time to sort out my photos of last year!! Keng!! I’ve also resort not to turn on my laptop when I’m at home, just use iphone to limit my time spent on the computer. Basically, I’m enjoying myself :).

So what we did over the weekend?

Vyktore’s all time favourite stunt at home…joined by Faythe

Friday night, we went for movies: Furry Vengence. Introduced by my colleague, it’s a movie worth watching if you need some laughter to breakaway from office stress. More worth watching this than watching Malaysia got thrashed in Thomas Cup :P. Both of them enjoyed the movie and laughed so loud!! Nowadays, I usually bring them out myself or with my brother since they are old enough and easier to control. Don’t need to bring my black-face maid along.

doing her Chinese homework, sometimes can take up to 1 hour O.o.

On Saturday, I went to wet market late. After that went lunch with both of them behind the house. Then we spent our saturday noon finishing up their homework. After homework session, had the chance to play with my camera and took some photos of them.

Then we made jellies before we proceed to our art and craft project.

I’ve been procrastinating to start our craft project but at last we completed our mini crafted aquarium. No photo as we still have the frame not completed yet. Faythe was the big contributor to the aquarium. Vyktore was only drawing the eyes n mouth of the sea creatures and requesting for all sorts of creatures to be featured in our aquarium.

After that I drop Faythe off to art class and slave myself in the kitchen for 2 hours. Our dinner menu:

  1. Fried chicken fingers
  2. Honey baked chicken wings
  3. Friend noodles

My 1st time successfully fried noodles. Faythe was the biggest supporter.

When it comes to fried noodles, tell you the truth I’m a total failure. For as long as I’ve lived, I have never once successfully fried edible noodles. It’s either it’s too much noodles & lack of ingredients or vice versa. But last weekend for once it’s just nice. I goreng until my hand also pain.

2nd time frying these. A hit for Vyktore. I knew he won’t *hiu* my fried noodles, hence I made these for him. He finished close to half of this plate.

We had jellies for dessert :).

On Sunday, I sent Faythe for art class again in the morning. I’ve signed her up for lifetime member, so she gets to go to class as often as she wants without additional fee hehe…

They wanted KFC for lunch, so when I fetch her we packed KFC home as well.

Sunday was more lazy, watched some TV after lunch. As for dinner, we had:

  1. Lotus Root Soup
  2. Honey baked chicken wings - again
  3. Fried rice

This the honey baked chicken. It’s a bit burnt at the tip and the alu foil cause my maid supposed to help me watch the api and glaze the chicken don’t know doing what and went missing halfway thru. Nevertheless it’s tasty!!

That was how we have our weekend. How was yours?

Here are more photos of the 2 of them taken over the weekend.

Erasing her homework

Whilst busy at work, sometimes she’d post for me as well.

Another pose from my willing model

After completed homework, Vyktore came by and show us his feet :P

Photo session turned violent LOL

Vyktore, posing for me rarely. He’s very impatient when it comes to taking photos, not easy nowadays.

2 of them again. I heart this ;).

See my poser LOL. I don’t know where she learned to pose like this, but if you notice this whole post the photos she’s been tilting her head. Does your 5yo does that too?

Have a nice week ahead…

May 10

It is very often, that even myself, forget that I’m a Mother and entitled for something during Mother’s Day. I always teringat have to get something for my MIL (since my mom no longer around), but forgotten that I should be entitled to celebrate this day as well. And knowing my other half very well, he treats me as a wife more than a mother to his 2 kids, hence I didn’t get any gift from him *ahem*.

Anyway, we celebrated (MIL, SIL & myself) our Mother’s Day in style, with 3 of us went for brunch/lunch at Oriental Pavilion @ Jaya 33 yesterday. We belanja MIL lah of course. But same time belanja myself. Maybe I should claim back from Mr. Hon later kekeke…

Some of the food we ordered (sorry no photo, too busy entertaining the kids since I’ve *cold storage* my maid at home):

  1. Sharks fin in shark bone soup
  2. Cod fish served on pomelo sauce
  3. Stew pig’s ears & tongue (MIL’s fav)
  4. Roast pork (not suckling pig eh)
  5. Stir fried ching-loong choy (don’t know what you call in English, but the veg is yummy)
  6. Some dim sum for the kids
  7. Peanut ball with sesame filling (for dessert)

We spent about 2 hours enjoying our food. With such good food, I wonder how my diets for quick weight loss plan is gonna be achievable.

Then went shopping at Ace Hardware (cause we wanted to get free jockey parking :P).

I also ordered a bunch of carnations hand bouquet for MIL, when we arrived at her place after our brunch, it has arrived.

I also sent another bouquet to another Mommy, whom is my dearest friend’s Mommy.

But lets travel back to Friday night, after work, I was greeted with these lovely art by my kids.

Nothing beats gifts from them seriously…

left & middle: a card done on Sunday in her art class. Front & inside. You see on the right, between the rose and the heart shape, there’s a packet of orange stuff with some white seeds. That’s barley pumpkin LOL. I’ve been boiling that over a few weekends and she loves it.
right: the flower was done from the Kindy. Notice one petal missing, don’t know where it went :P.

left: front of the card done in Kindy. I had a good laugh when I saw this. Cause Vyktore has 8 fingers LOL.
right: inside of the card. This card doesn’t really tell the truth, cause he don’t really cook whatever I eat, apart from fried rice :P

So that was how I celebrated my Mother’s Day.

Mar 22

I’m really glad that despite hubby & me are not very hardworking in nurturing reading with my kids, they love reading a lot. Due to this, I promise to myself that no matter how late it is, and how tired it is, we always have story time every night. 1 book each. Of course, I spend alot money as well, purchasing Scholastics Books for them, which they love it very much. Their school has Scholastic School Program where books are real cheap, and the stories are very enjoyable too :). Sometimes when they are bored, they will dig out all the books and read themselves. Without me asking them to do so.

Sometimes they keep reading the same book till I can even memorise every page O.o. And they can narrate the story themselves too haha…that shows how much they love the book.

she looks like a teacher here don’t she :)

One day I overheard Faythe reading to Vyktore..their nursery rhymes book. It’s really heartwarming when I heard this, hence I sneak over and took some pics of them. And they didn’t bother bout me. I always love moments like this. It makes me feel as though all my hardwork has finally paid off. They love each other, teach each other. And they are not fighting over the same book LOL. Yes, sometimes they do fight to read the same book O.o.

Indeed I’m very proud of Faythe as a sister. Whenever Vyktore does his homework reluctantly. She’d volunteer to sit beside him and try to teach him, which I always tell her not to. Then she will use a blank paper and draw up boxes and pretend to do homework together with him so that he finishes his. She’s so loving and the way she encourages Vyktore is really amazing.

Having a son…

…means I have to know all means of transportation.

…means I have to know the names of all type of fishes.

…means I have to know what are the different type of dinosaurs.

…means I have to know all the different types of Shark & Whale family.

Cause that is what Vyktore loves most.

photo taken during our trip to HCM last year. HCM Zoo. When he say this, he ran there and requested a photo to be taken.

Vyktore is in a very chatty phase currently. Not only that, he loves to ask question to reassure that we are giving him consistent correct answer.

Annie bought this book for him that is full of fishes & even numbers. He love this book to bits & he remembers all the name of the fishes & sea creatures in the book. Read till a few of the pages are missing O.o.

Conversations on sea creatures

Vyktore: Mahmi, what fish is this?
Mommy: What is this? Harlequin Tuskfish.
Vyktore; Yay..This fish got blue teeth. Don’t bite people one.
Mommy: Ya, don’t bite people.

Vyktore: Mahmi, what fish is this?
Mommy: This is Parrot Fish.
Vyktore: Yay…Parrot Fish eat coral

Vyktore: Mahmi, this is Sord (Sword) Fish.
Mommy: Yes..swordfish.
Vyktore: This one poke people one…poke poke poke (he did a poking action with his hand)

Vyktore: Mahmi, this is Yau Yue.
Mommy: This is Octopus. Say Octopus.
Vyktore: No, it’s yau yue.

Vyktore: Mahmi, this is killer whale. This is leopard shark. This is blue whale.

And he goes on and on verifying all the sea creatures.

When he doesn’t know the name, he’d insist I name it, he will not he happy if I just call it fish O.o. Help, I need a fish encyclopedia.

He doesn’t like to go to school still :(. So I’ve been trying to tell him that if he doesn’t cry for a fair amount of days, I will buy him a big shark.

So each day, while on our way to school, here’s our conversation:

Mommy: Vyktore. Today go school don’t cry OK. Everyone also go to school. Jie Jie, Gabriel…
Vyktore: Raphael also go..
Mommy; Ya, Raphael too :). So you don’t cry, you clever boy OK.
Vyktore: Yay…Afterwards Mommy buy big shark for you (me).
Mommy; Yes..only if you don’t cry for x days, but this morning you wake up you cry woh..

A mother of 5!!
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Jazzmint, Motherhood | icon4 03 9th, 2010| icon318 Comments »

At the age of early 30s & being a mother of 2, I often get questions asking me if I ever gonna have no. 3. Certainly not at the moment. Having 2 kids which are only 18 months apart is already keeping my hands full. I can’t imagine I have another 1 or 2, though the perfect situation is 2 boys & 2 girls.I don’t want another child and either Faythe or Vyktore will have no companion to play with. Kinda pity lehh…

Anyway, I don’t need to give birth to 4 kids to experience being a mother of 4 :P. Had the chance of doing that few weeks ago before CNY, when Sue drop her kids off at my place (together with her Mom who helps to take care of Jolie) while she cleans up her newly renovated house with her maid.

It was crazy in the house LOL. All 5 of them busy entertaining themselves. Ivan & Faythe plays very closely together. While Izac & Vyktore more on their own. But Vyktore is not very generous person and at times when they took his toys to play he’d fussed.

Jolie of course still too young to fight, but she defended herself well too.

In the end I thought, I better bring them out for a break before Sue’s Mom & me go nuts LOL.

1st thing, is to put Vyktore to sleep. He’s very tired from the looks of it, within minutes he KO-ed.

Then, I told the other 3 to follow me out. I’ll bring them to McD for some ice cream.

Managed to park my car without any problem, but ordering the sundaes was a total mess. Mother of 3 (at that time), failed. I was actually very worried cause they were all over the place and I’m worried they got kidnapped by strangers. Paranoid mother :P.

Got them to sit down and eat their sundaes.

Faythe & Ivan was pretty easy. They were happily entertaining each other and eating. Even up to the extend of teaching each other how to roll tongue O.o.

Izac, he didn’t want the wafer. Only ate the Ice Cream.

After finishing the ice cream, I took them back home and rested a while before Sue came over.

Seriously, taking care of 3/4 kids at the same age is not easy. I really salute those Mommy that has more than 2 kids with a close age gap.

Mental note to myself that I will not go for no. 3 LOL. I have enough on my plate :).

Feb 23

Faythe will start Primary 1 in 2012. I seriously can’t imagine that it’s my turn to hunt for Primary School. Just like yesterday she was born!!

From day 1 (right when she was born!!), we’ve decided that we will send her to Chinese School. No question about it for sure. Very funny, that my parents used to work so hard to ensure I get into a good English/BM School, now it’s the other way round. Parents work hard to make sure they get into Chinese School. How time changes.

I actually planned to go check a few schools and do some comparison before I decide. Look, it’s planned, but didn’t happen :P. Due to shortage of time & CNY School Closure.

So there are actually 5 Schools to pick from based on where we are staying. I only manage to visit 1 of the school.

Out of all these schools, only the one I visited has morning session for Std 1. Though it’s not my criteria, but morning session will make my life easier since I have to take care of 2 kids and I’m not a SAHM.

Out of all these schools, the one I visited seems to have the least student/class. Teacher:Student ratio of 1:30.

Out of all these schools, 4 of them are famous and well known, plenty of students, heard alot feedbacks regarding school homework, teachers, etc, etc…

I also spoke to parents in School when I visited the school. Some of them have children in the other schools, so they compared and mentioned to me this school has so much lesser homework compared to the rest of the 4 schools.

I also took a peek at the School Canteen. They were selling noodles, rice, and some snacks like cakes, kuih-muih. Nothing *devillish* like Twisties and junks like that.

My rational of deciding the school:

  1. I’m a banana (I read very little Chinese, but speaks Mandarin quite fluent - especially ever since I started my existing job) so it will not be easy for me to assist my child in Mandarin subjects. So I need to choose 1 with less homework to manage.
  2. I figure that if my child is weak in Mandarin (I expect that she’s not strong since we don’t speak Mandarin at home), she’d require more attention from her class teacher. And having a smaller class to manage (teacher:student ratio), it will be easier for teacher to give attention to the student.
  3. A place that is not super jam and I don’t need to spend 30mins on the road to send her and go back to house to pick Vyktore (at least for the 1st year, when Vyktore is still 6yo).

Hence, I decided to enrol at the school I’ve visited. And I went to the school today and completed the enrollment :). Yes, they are open for enrollment since Feb, no need to wait March :P.

Yes, the school is pretty small, they only have 1 class/age, only 160 students as of this year. Probably when Faythe starts her class, there’ll be more classes, but I doubt it’d double the amount by then, since this is rather low profile school.

I also like the way school handles parents. I understand that most school will not allow parents to hang around the school after 2 days in school, but being a worried parent, I’d like to go there sometimes for more than 2 days to ensure my child is OK. And this school allows that. They even have an area for parents to sit and wait. That was where I manage to interact with the parents and find out more.

So parents with 2005 babies, have you deciced? 1st March is d-Date :). I’ve done my duty. Now I can concentrate for my weight loss products as I’m been gaining pounds recently O.o.

Note: Sorry, unable to disclose the name of school due to privacy issue, but if you’d like to know, drop me an email or leave a comment. I’ll share with you :) .

A minor surgery
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe, Motherhood | icon4 01 19th, 2010| icon322 Comments »

Faythe underwent a minor surgery on Monday, 11 Jan 10.

She had a wart growing on her index finger and MIL brought her to the specialist last month. But since we were travelling, we didn’t arrange the surgery to be done in December. We also scheduled it when Daddy is around so that he can be there for his lil princess.

My nephew had plenty of warts removed the week before and it was a disaster in the OT. The medicine they gave to put him to sleep didn’t work and he almost turned the whole OT upside down.

As for Faythe, she’s really a brave girl. Few days before that, we’ve already told her that she’ll be going for the surgery and how the whole surgery would take place so that she’s well prepared.

We gave her the medicine to put her to sleep in the morning itself. And guess what, she knock off instantly.  I also applied some cream on her finger to numb it. But upon arriving the Hosp (Sime Darby Specialist Centre Megah), she woke up.

trying to move around and sit up but she’s spinning all over the place.

We put her on the bed, but she refused to sit still and try to move about. We had to calm her down as she was complaining why she can’t sit straight and she shook her head to get a better vision. She’s drowsy basically.

Thank god, Daddy downloaded the Meatball Cartoon in his iphone, so we put that on for her to watch.

The procedure was done at 10am as the doctor was late. It was pretty quick.

I went in with her while she was still watching the cartoon. We further numb the finger with ice before injecting some medicine on the finger. That was the only point she screamed and complained painful. But I distracted her and ask her to continue watching the cartoon.

Then the doctor took the laser and just laser..remove remove..laser..remove remove..that’s it. It happened less than 3 mins!! And we are out of the OT the next minute.

Got home and she already sat up and start watching TV like nothing happened. She’s sure a tough girl :).
