15 years ago..well, that’s definitely Malaysia’s N-Day…it was Mommy’s N-Day as well hahaha…reason is, I don’t think a lot of people knew bout this, except of course my school friends (some of them) whom I’ve known since primary….count and count, i think probably just 1 or 2 I could name…
Anyway, back to the story…Mommy was selected to perform during the N-Day parade *bravo!!*…I could still remember, there were like 4 schools selected to perform on National Day, and BBGS were one of them. I think there were like 50 odds or more from each school, combined together, we did some cultural dance performance (Malay, Chinese, and forgot what else)…It was fun, the preparation took like 2-3 months, so we started to practice day in day out, every single day without fail, and of course, the dance steps keeps changing every few weeks, so we got to do it again and again with new steps included…until I have to copy homework from my friends..We even practice during school holiday!!
Rehearsal took place like 3-4 days before the actual day itself, 2 sessions of rehearsal, exercise-wear and full-dress. The night before rehearsal, everyone were asked to sleep overnite in the school!! Yes overnite!! And imagine, my school was like 90+ years old back then…and we always hear spooky stories of ghost and what not…So going to toilet was like a major troupe of armies marching towards toilet…We slept in the library, woke up like god knows, 4am?? Cause the teachers got to make up the students 1 by 1..I could recall a few teacher’s name, Ms. Shobana, Puan Aminah…nevertheless, the fear of ghost never dampened my spirits :).
What do we do during rehearsal?..well, not only we were at Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square), but also the rest of the people whom are performing, parades from various private sectors company, armies..and the usual stuff…Day 1 rehearsal was just with our exercise wear (it came together as part of our costume package), could still remember I was wearing yellow :). Day 2 rehearsal was full dress, I think if I’m not mistaken, we were wearing like pink Malay wear (not baju kurung or kebaya, but baju Melayu - men’s Malay wear) or was it blue Malay wear ~memory half sudah gone, so excuse me for the colour blunder~, with a nicely matched sarong and even shoes…and we use a fan and selendang as part of the what do you call, performing TOOLS? hahaha….
Well, the true story was, I was one of the reserved squad (5 of us), not sure why I was a reserved..probably because I’m not a graceful dancer, got to admit that I’m very kayu one..always kena scolding from the teacher for not remembering the steps correctly hahaha..nevertheless, even reserved has to be dressed the same like the rest, in case someone fell sick and we replace them.
So on the actual N-Day, no one fell sick, but I was there with the crowd as well when the rest of the people performed…to me it was not important whether to perform or not, moreover if I miss any step, will be in deepshit hahaha…and I get paid the same amount as rest of the people, so what the heck :)..yes, we do get paid, I think it was like RM5 per day for everyday that we came for practice, something like that..and the amount I got was like a whooping RM100+, minus some expenses, received RM70+..very happy with that salary ~still very naive mah~ hahaha……
But too bad, didn’t snap any pics of such memorable day, so I can only post a Malaysia flag in the blog hehe…

Happy Birthday Malaysia!! May your people and country prosper…

On another note, while I was surfing for a nice pic of Jalur Gemilang(Malaysia Flag), I stumbled upon this fact page..which I find that it’s pretty interesting…and it’s even more interesting to know that CIA keeps info of every single country in the world (pretty updated ~ they commented that our latest environment issue is haze) with the info which I’ve not seen in my life. This includes even brief history, terrains, our political parties, our population details and even HIV rates!! Very interesting :). And the most amazing thing I find is, it was updated on Aug 5, 2005. Which means among the 23,953,136 (July 2005 est. - figures given by them) there are some CIA agents toying around and fishing info out of us every other day without fail and updating this website as and when..

Who gave me allergies?
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Motherhood | icon4 08 28th, 2005| icon35 Comments »

According to webster, allergy is described as:

altered bodily reactivity (as hypersensitivity) to an antigen in response to a first exposure

so what has happened to Faythe? Well, she’s not allergic to anything as yet..not the food, not the place..but her arrival into this world, has brought Mommy allergy to MSG!! Yah..when I was found pregnant, i realised that I get *fong-mok* when I eat something wrong, not sure which food was the culprit, I started nailing them down one by one, and I found that I can’t eat APPLE?? Weird, but after I stop eating apple, I get less *fong-mok* attacks…So I concluded that was it….When I was into 2nd trimester, I tried eating apple (itchy mind, don’t wanna give up), but I didn’t get fong-mok.hmm..so it wasn’t apple eh….then one day, it happened that I went to eat at this shop, which put so much MSG, I had to drink gallons of water thereafter..and the fong-mok attack…then I start to realise that whenever I eat out, if the place has lots of MSG, I will have fong-mok…eating at home was never a problem, since I don’t put MSG at all into the food (only occasional chicken stock cubes).
And now after giving birth, I still have this allergy on me…Is that a good thing? Well, could be, so that next time I get fong-mok attach, then I can tell myself, this shop shouldn’t go, lots of MSG :)…but the bad thing is, I get this pretty often…and it’s really something not too pleasant.
Daddy has allergy to Aspirin…a type of medicine…if he accidentally takes it, his eyes will be red and swollen…whole body itchy as well…
Today we went to Kidsport at 1utama, meeting some mommies there…Faythe wasn’t feeling well, running nose and cough(AGAIN!!)..so she wasn’t as active as usual….Then we were supposed to have lunch at one of my fav. restaurant, till we found out they don’t have baby chair!! How baby unfriendly this shop was…You mean you only expect youngsters, no-baby family as patrons to your restaurant? C’mon-lah…without babychair, the kids wil be running up and down in the restaurant!! So next time you have kids, don’t frequent to this place. BTW, shop name is Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.
So off we went to Arena Foodcourt..plenty of babychairs (bravo)…but the food extremely expensive. I had nasi lemak with 2 dishes, and a cordial drink, cost me RM10.08!! Another place to boycott cause of the expensive food hahaha…

fish or no fish
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Motherhood | icon4 08 27th, 2005| icon33 Comments »
sometime ago when Faythe starts to eat solid, I gave her threadfin fish mix in the porridge..happily eating that for few days..until some smart *you know who* says that fish meat is not clean, cause sometimes got worms in it…so don’t give fish so often…so the menu changed when threadfin finished, it went to chicken and pork…today, the smart *you know who* says…now must give fish, COD FISH is the one, cause Faythe needs alot of protein. SO NOW IS FISH OR NO FISH?? Can’t “you know who” leave mommy alone on what to do with the porridge, be it fish or chicken or pork, so long as she’s growing well and mommy is changing the menu every week, why is there always the INTERRUPTION!!
anyway, done with that…we went Saisaki for Yong Howe’s farewell today..had lots of food, and gave Faythe quite a fair bit of FISH too…so you see, her diet is balance!!
the site is still revamping….wanted to make a new look, but find that it’s too hassle…so change the look of the top, but because I’ve ran out of space to upload photo, so got to wait till September then the pic will be ready….so pls be patient :)
Mommy is very sleepy, so gonna head to the bed now…too lazy to blog, wanted to write bout something, but the FISH thing got me disturbed, so blog bout that instead.

he did it again!!

wow…I’m overjoyed with the fact that Kimi has won 2 race consecutively…and he did it in a style of his own…too bad the stupid Montoya spunned off 2 laps before the race ends, and he gave the points away to Alonso..arghh..what disappointment. We could have cut the margin with another 2 points, sigh!!
5 more race remaining, the chances are getting slimmer..we need Alonso to do more stunts like what Schumi did :). Anyway, just to let you know..since you might not know, Mommy is an ardent fan of Formula 1 racing…though never been to watch any LIVE in the circuit (ticket too expensive, you only see car zoom pass & gotta wait), I’ve been following F1 since 1999, the Mika days..and from day 1, a supporter of Mclaren *shouts*….since Mika glorious days, we’ve been going down…performance of car not good, driver of course we have good ones, except mr. Cakap Banyak..who now driving for Red Bull. But this year, the package of the car and driver is so competitive..it’s gonna be a real pity if we can’t win it…not forgetting we handed in 20 crucial race points to Alonso due to Kimi’s car failure in the closing ends of those races. If not, things might be different as of now.
Well, 5 more race to go..anything might happen :)….keep it up ICEMAN!!
Oh..not forgetting, Man U won their 2nd EPL match yesterday, keeping fingers crossed that Arsenal vs Chelsea today is a draw…then we take advantage on that hehe..yes, Mommy is also a football fan and supporter of Man U, also like since year 2000…but since the season just beginning, so it’s not so nail-biting compared to F1.

Abbreviations
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Jazzmint, Motherhood | icon4 08 18th, 2005| icon33 Comments »

when Mommy were in school, she used to learn about abbreviations that goes like this:

  • RIP - rest in peace
  • cm - centimetre
  • ml - mililitre
  • kg - kilograms

when Mommy started working, the abbreviations she learned became more like this:

  • VIP - very important person
  • KIV - keep in view
  • COD - cash on delivery
  • CC - credit card
  • BF - boyfriend
  • GF - girlfriend
  • BGR - boy girl relationship

when Mommy got married to Daddy, the abbreviations started to have a lot of “IL” like this:

  • FIL - father in law
  • MIL - mother in law
  • SIL - sister in law
  • DIL - daughter in law
  • BIL - brother in law

then after giving birth to Faythe, it turns out that Mommy started to use a lot abbreviation with “M” & “B” like this:

  • SAHM - stay at home mother
  • WFH - working from home
  • FTWM - full time working mother
  • BM - breastmilk
  • BF - breastfeeding

So conclusion is…Mommy use a lot of abbreviations in her day to day life…..hahaha…..even in sms :)

BTW, the photo above is Faythe..holding some masking tape in her hand..and got stuck to it..the photo looks like she’s dancing thou hehehe

Woo woo yeah yeah…
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe | icon4 08 17th, 2005| icon34 Comments »
hehehe…..Faythe started to sing last nite…not ABC, not Twinkle Little Star, not Ba Ba Black Sheep. But she sings..aaaaaaaaaaa …..aaaaaaaaaaaa …aaaaaaaa….. aaaaaaaa….. that’s bout it hahahaha…

And she has mastered the art of standing, while grabbing on the cot railing…been practising that a lot lately. She even dares to lift her hand up…and sometimes not stable, she’ll tumble down to the matress in the cot.

Where did she learn singing from? Of course from dearest Daddy…Everyday he goes…aaaaaaaa…aaaa…..girl girl, follow daddy…so yesterday she did it while he was sleeping :P…and today he did it again.

Mommy couldn’t help but just chuckle and quickly took the camera to capture some good shots ;)

hairwired
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe, Jazzmint | icon4 08 15th, 2005| icon35 Comments »

yes…it’s official to announce that my handspring Treo 270 has got hairwired for the pass 3 days…It shows no battery, yet after charging for more than 2hrs, it show’s full charged..when I make a call…the battery just flattens out!! Sigh…that’s the after effect of Treo jatuh tandas.

it happened like sometime 2 weeks ago, when I brought my phone to the toilet (was on the way out for lunch)..so habis business..flush..take phone…..oppsssss……it slipped and I was trying to hold the string attached to it, but it was too late…in the water, didn’t get flushed, so I picked it up (ermm…human reaction, never thought the cleanliness of the water), anyway, the water was clean OK!! So next time you pinjam phone from me, better not try to smell it if it stinks :P…So some water went in…I did the McGyver (forgot how to spell) thing, opened up the whole phone. YES!! the whole phone, casing, battery, screws everything that could be open, it was opened up…dried…left for 3 days..during weekend, I fixed it back…well it’s working, but now after that fateful 1 week, it’s showing me that battery problem I used to have 1 year ago when I first bought it :(…I hope it’s just something I can correct it…right now switched it off and charging…sigh!! I hope I won’t need to change phone, I’m kinda sick of thinking what phone to get, moreover, the money spent!!

Other than that, it has been a pretty fruitful weekend, I even manage to catch the EPL first game, where Man U won their game in style hehehe…and also went for capiore (duno how to spell) class in gym..I went gym 3 times last week :)..now my legs are aching after that class…imagine asking me do head-stand and summersault…siao man, u think I’m 10yo kid mehhh..

As for Faythe, I’m almost gonna pass out soon…she’s so active, won’t wanna sit still…crawling all over the place, and putting everything into her mouth…and she has even learned to stand in her cot…..boy oh boy…soon we have no place to confine her…..

Clear sky at last…
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Et Cetera, Faythe | icon4 08 12th, 2005| icon34 Comments »

Yes…after week of haze, I finally see the sun today…it still hasn’t clear totally, but at least better than nothing..there’s hope :).

ok..back to this pail…so what’s it all about? and the dirty water..took a snapshot of this 2 days ago. It came from the rainbow vacuum cleaner we use, water base..very efficient..well we didn’t clean the air..but it’s all dust mites.

this vacuum does wonders, it has this device that comes with it that beats the bed (like vibrating on the bed) and all the dustmite will be suck and collected in the water…cool huh..no wander it cost a bomb!!…thanks to MIL, we can afford to have one to clean the bed every 2-3 months..other than cleaning dust mite, it can also clean air…another function, but we didn’t use it since I was out and maid didn’t know how to play with that function.

Now the haze is clearing..that’s good news for KL, but going to Penang..that’s bad news for them..sigh…should blow back to Indon mah…somemore they dare to blame us that our balak company in Indon is the one causing this…when is it that they gonna stop pushing responsibility to us!!

2 days ago also faythe had her first fall..off the bed to the floor..with a big thump on the head…and cried thereafter…poor girl…now I’m so so cautious, i rather let her sit on the floor..also hard surface, worried lah…i guess I’ll have to invest on some mattress.cheap ones to put around the bed.

OK, so clear sky we have…hopefully clearer as day comes…and here’s the pic, taken from outside my bedroom..notice the cloud LOL…I always say, I love the sun :)

It’s snowing in KL!!
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Et Cetera | icon4 08 11th, 2005| icon3No Comments »

yah it is…in my dreams…but the fact is, it’s snowing with dust and haze now…choking even in office…I started wearing mask as of yesterday….can’t tahan liao, it’s real bad!! Some areas, the API has gone up to 500…gosh, bloody Indon’s, don’t they have some sense….apologies is not enough…why not we do the same to them, see how they suffer…and they still do it every other year without fail….brainless..

anyway, here’s a pic of my office….notice the Logo of the building has already gone missing. Oh sorry..actually it’s the building on the right..the one on the left is John Hancock I think…this was taken at 13hrs, from Jalan Batai (office just across the road). Thanks to Frank and his O2 phone :)

icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Et Cetera | icon4 08 9th, 2005| icon34 Comments »

Yes…that’s what the weather man told us in the radio news…weather forecast expected…hazy…DUH, like I dunno lah..I oso can do forecast for next 5 days :P. We’ve been hit badly by the haze, thanks to Indons burning their farmlands..*siao gang*. It’s so bad that in the office, I cant even see the word on the billboard on the road…which is usually clear…and that’s like what, 50metres away oni…..sien..no outdoor activity…

So with the haze…I’ve added a new thingy on the site.weather forecast sticker…kekeke…

also updated on the blog…I’ve finally loaded 90% of Faythe’s photos on to the website…best photo website I find so far :)…..Bravooo…
