Fall of the blinds Po-li-shee
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Work | icon4 10 27th, 2005| icon313 Comments »
Mommy works in a place that the company calls it Top Secret. Sounds like some MIB agent office. Well, the staff here (including Mommy) always wonder, if so top secret, why are we located in an office building that everyone has access to? Might as well build an underground office in some secluded area where no one can see us right!!As you know, big companies always restructure, not sure for good, or just for show lah..one year you see this fella is your manager, next year he kiss goodbye and someone else comes. When we first moved to our new office (current office), it was all so pleasant..nice view of the damansara and kl (depends where you sit), no ground rules, toys all over the workstation, plants all over the table, we even have fighting fish and spend time feeding and playing with them (myself and my other colleague, Philip). Then came the chinaman, rule the world, R&R (not rest & relax, but rules& regulations).

First thing you see in the list, no more toys or whatsover bla bla bla..on your workstation. The po-li-shee is clean desk…the reason, gulppp…because we have a lot customers and this is a place to work, not a place where you display your toys!! OK lor…so all the toys went to the drawer and went home.

Then we have the security bla bla bla (god knows what, they all sound the same) po-li-shee..which says no fish water in any form (except drinking) is allowed. And the first thing, the chinaman rule all boss came to my workstation, Jazzmint, did you see email, pls remove your pet fish…argghh!!! Yes I saw that email, damn…the small pleasure and joy of watching fish swimming also you disallow..memang cursing alot that time. So myself donated the fish and tank to BIL (he’s a fan of fighting fish LOL) and Philip took his fish home and then died..poor fish!!

Next, the po-li-shee becomes more weird…the whole floor glass has to be tinted..in fear of 9/11 incident.. Wah liao eh, u think we are so famous people wanna take plane and bang us mehhh…bang oso go to twin towers lah..chiu…anyway, they went ahead and tint the glass…and the next damnest thing that happen was, we have to put the blinds ALL DOWN ALL THE TIME!! The fact that we already work in the dark (after tinting) is already bad enough, now we have the ALL BLINDS ALL DOWN ALL THE TIME po-li-shee…you better ask me go die lah.

Mommy hates darkness…Mommy loves the sun…Mommy hates to look out from the window and can’t tell if it’s raining or hazy or snowing or sunny…because with tinting you can’t tell the difference. Sien…at that very moment, I really feel like screaming at the big boss and tell him, what kinda stupid shit po-li-shee is this..and only our MIB department does all this nonsense thing. But never did lah, if I did, I won’t be writing this post today kakaka…

Last year about this time, restructure happen again..as usual lah…whoa…..it was good news, we got new boss. So the china-man boss seems to be reporting to the new boss..yay!!! The first time when I have 1-to-1 session with the new boss, call him, X, he ask me so what you think of the dept..and bla bla bla…..so I started bla bla bla and then I went to the clothes topic, telling him that guys shouldn’t need to wear tie cause it’s really ermm no purpose lahh…for what, you got big jobs to close isit…or you gonna meet PM kah…i told him, if you want ppl to work with you and your management and feel like family, we shouldn’t have so many R&R..it makes ppl feel unrest, it gives ppl the I cant do anything feel…and personally I hate it. I told that straight to his face, and yes indeed he agreed with me that he hates tie as well.

3-4 months later, after I beranak and came back, the first change that he did, was no tie po-li-shee…muahahaha..I was so glad, for my guy colleagues lah, not for me….All of them thank me LOL. Then I tell myself, hmm..this new boss is good…he listens, and he acts…he’s a very nice guy actually, very friendly, very sociable and leng chai too kakaka…of course not forgetting he also gave me increment…

Today marks another achievement or change that he did for the MIB dept…..and we all celebrated in the meeting room, I was the first one who clapped. After the hour long meeting with all the permanent employees, he announced that from today, we can raise the blind and see the sun…whoaaaa…..that feeling is like kena release from the jail for Mommy..kakakaka…at last, I can breath the fresh air, I can feel the sunlight shinning behind me and giving me warmth…I can look out and enjoy the view (ermm..not superbly nice but better than no view right)…so I quickly supported my dear boss and gave him a round applause..bravo to X…

After work today, he walk over to my workstation (he was having meeting at my floor) and say, “hey jazzmint, so you are very happy with the blinds off po-li-shee huh, you were the first who clap”…Alamak, that also he notice kahh…”yalorr..i love the sun mahh..and we got such nice view, it’s a waste if we draw the curtain most of the time”…As I stood up and look around the office, I could feel the freshness everyone is feeling…the brightness that we’ve been waiting for finally arrives…

I think with the removal of another sucking po-li-shee…the most important for me..as I just love working next to a window with sunlight…dunno why, siao siao one, now I feel more energetic for work…I think he just gave me a new working life :).

Some note for you, Mommy is crazy enough that sometimes when she goes to big parks…she will runaround on the grass and then sit there, lie down and write *big* word and enjoy the sun for couple of minutes kakaka…Daddy says Mommy is weird, the sun is so hot. But then again, this is nature, if you don’t enjoy it, you will miss it, especially when it’s haze…I’m sure everyone missed the good o’ SUN :).

Digging treasures

MIL has been asking me, if when I was baby my hair was ever like Faythe’s and I told her YES…I got bushy hair. So yesterday night, after blogging and doing all the usual stuff, I went to dig out my long time collecting dust in the cabinet photo album.

I have passion bout photos…a few years back, before pak toh and knew Daddy, one day I took out all the photos from various albums, arrange them nicely according to ermm…size perhaps :P (baby till of late) and slot them in all so nicely into new albums I bought. I even but a divider between the different years of which I could decipher..those I cant decipher,
just agak agak lorrr…
So there I was digging the albums and I found my baby photo kakaka…..Then I see the hair..gosh, it was worse than Faythe’s hair lahh!!! Today, came back from office, I quickly install the scanning software on the PC and scanned and edited(pic turned yellow, so i make it look normal back) and crop it nicely.

Here’s a pic of Mommy Jazzmint when she was a baby…I’m not sure what age is that…probably around 8-9 months. And also a comparison photo of Faythe when she was 2 months (the bushiest hair she ever had).

Finally I can tell my friends, Faythe inherits the hair gene from Mommy muahahaha…I hope she didn’t inherit the white-hair gene though :(.

Macaroni & Cheese
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 In the Kitchen | icon4 10 25th, 2005| icon314 Comments »

On popular demand from so many Mommies..hehe..thx thx…here’s the recipe for Macaroni & Cheese.

Macaroni is very small, don’t require blending.
MACARONI & CHEESEEEE
Ingredients

MINI Macaroni
amount: a handful of it, depends on baby’s appetite, for a start maybe a small handful to test the water
where to buy: supermarket like TESCO or JJ. I got mine from TESCO, mini ribbon shapes..very cute hehe
MINI Bebebel cheese
amount: I’m very greedy so my handful of macaroni, goes together with one bebebel cheese
where to buy: got it from TESCO. TESCO has the widest range of cheese, according to Carre Four HR Mgr :P. I think can get from JJ also.
Water
amount: agak agak lah..for boiling the pasta one hehe

Method

  1. Cut Bebebel cheese, into small chunks
  2. Bring water to boil, and dump all the macaroni into the boiling water
  3. Cook for 5-10 mins until macaroni is soft
  4. Drain the water and retain the macaroni
  5. Make sure you shake off excess water from the macaroni so that your macaroni & cheese won’t become macaroni water & cheese
  6. Place the cheese into feeding bowl
  7. Pour the piping hot macaroni into the feeding bowl
  8. Allow it to settle for 1-2 minutes
  9. Then use the feeding spoon to STIR (like goreng the macaroni)
  10. The cheese will MELT very fast since it’s in small chunks
  11. Once all melted, you will see the macaroni & cheese nicely mixed together and look a bit cheesy (when you try to take a scoop up), but don’t expect to see the likes of Kenny Roger’s macaroni & cheese - still wondering how they make it so so cheesy!!
  12. Now it’s ready to serve.
  13. Make sure serve while it’s still warm, I think if it’s cold it will be rubbery and sticky.
  14. I think for older kids, maybe can add some chopped button mushroom and probably a bit of basil leave

Pasta Day
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe | icon4 10 24th, 2005| icon321 Comments »

Mommy working 1/2 day at office 1/2 day at home today..So decided to feed Faythe with macaroni & cheese rather than the usual porridge. She looks a bit *jelak* having porridge everyday, so just for a change. This is the 2nd time we cook macaroni & cheese.

Mommy went to buy baby macaroni (ribbon shape) in Tesco sometime ago. And wanted to cook pasta for her to try, like what Jefferene does for Yee Ching. The first time she had it, we were at friend’s house and she was too busy with to finish her food. Today’s attempt was better. She finished the whole bowl full of macaroni and bebebel melted cheese. Showing her hands up, means that she loves the food lah I suppose…she only does this when she enjoys the food, otherwise, she’ll be looking north & south trying to delay time.
After that, Mommy gave her a slice of starfruit we bought from Pasar Malam yesterday..yummy…she chews on it Mommy holding the fruit. She likes it too hahaha…

After lunch, while maid was cooking macaroni & cheese for Mommy and herself, took a quick snap on this little monkey, standing on the kitchen countertop..looking for the cat, turnaround and gave me a chance to capture this photo hehehe…

So what’s for dinner? Since no porridge, it’s pasta again!!! But dinner is slightly different, we’ve got ABC soup, cooked with some sardines..yummy..mashed up all the ABC ingredients and mix with pasta with the soup…You bet she loves it too…

Notice the colours..the food is yellow macaroni, cheese, starfruit)..she’s also dressed in yellow…kekeke..what a conicidence!!

So there goes another happy day for Faythe and Mommy…pasta day for Faythe, simple delicious food for Mommy :)

Daddy will be in Guangzhou for the rest of the month. So it’s only Mommy, Faythe & Tini at home…sob sob…more lonely nights…or isit more time to do my own things. Many times when daddy is around, I find that he’s very troublesome, cause he has multiple request at home, from cold water to earbuds!!! That’s the time when you wish he gives Mommy a break and just get out of sight for a while. Not forgetting, when he’s around he’s pretty troublesome in the sense that he always spoils Mommy’s plan to go fix some stuff. So sometimes, Mommy feel more freedom and more well plan when Daddy is not around.
And yet, when Daddy is not around, many times, or maybe just this time, Mommy would feel lonely…the house is so quiet!!! Suddenly there’s no one ordering you around!! The house is less messier that’s for sure!! Though it’s lonely, I must admit that these are the times which I enjoy cause it makes me feel so peaceful & more relaxing.
Dinner time usually it’s not a problem, I’ll just find some kaki to eat with me, e.g. Frank. Weekends, ermm…maybe I might be bored, who knows right!! Well, since my last 2 weekends plan has been spoiled, I guess I’ll have the opportunity to make it happen this weekend hehehe..
OK, I need to go prepare the RISK LOG for some projects..and have my supper, Yee Meen with fish..yummy!! Adios..Daddy we will miss you. Make sure you bring home lots of souvenirs, or else don’t attempt to step into the house hehehe…

Mommy is still crazily downloading pretty backgrounds, editing photos, downloading fonts. So lets have our 2nd lesson. Sharon request for one photo 2 colours…So here’s a post how we can turn a single colour picture to 2 colours. Very easy, guarantee less than 10 steps hehehe…

Lesson TWO

A background with two parts of different colours
      1. Open up a background, decide one part of the background that you want to change colour
      2. In this case, I take the left side.
      3. Use the rectangular MARQUEE tool to select the left side (first button on the left, the one like a dotted square)
      4. Once the area selected, right click and choose Layer via copy.
      5. This will create a layer of what you selected
      6. Then, from here…you can play with the colours, like change it black & white (desaturate), change brightness or contrast and change colour balance. All this can be done under IMAGE, ADJUSTMENT Tool Options.
      7. Try until you are satisfied :)
      8. Once you are done, merge the Layers by using the LAYER, FLATTEN IMAGE Options. You can also use merge visible or merge layers.
See 8 steps and you have a beautiful two parts of different colours background. I added Faythe’s picture in this background. How to do that:
              1. Open the photo which you want to add.
              2. Ensure that the photo size is smaller than the background size. You can make the image smaller by resizing the image, IMAGE, IMAGE Size options.
              3. Once you are done, you can also crop out unwanted stuff from the photo by using the Crop tool (the one below the lasso). Won’t explain on the crop tool..you go test test & see lah :)
              4. Finish cropping, again right click on the photo and select duplicate layer.
              5. Select the file where you want to duplicate this photo to. In this case, it’s the background file.
              6. Now, what you do next is arrange the photo nicely, and repeat the same if you have other photos.
              7. To add the words, select the “T” Button and click anywhere on the background.
              8. Then start typing the words. You can experiment by change the colours & font style.
              9. Once finish with the wordings, Click on the “tick” on the top right hand side…and it’s done
Don’t forget, you have to merge again, so that all the layers you’ve added will all be in 1 piece. Then save the file as JPEG and upload to your blog lorrrrr….hehehehe….

Fingers & Toes
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe | icon4 10 20th, 2005| icon39 Comments »

Still have nothing much to blog about, so more photos :)

I’ve always like photos of toes and fingers…not only they show bonding between 2 person, it shows a lot of details as well…and of course you don’t need a lot of editing work.
Inspired (and also wanna copycat) dinah, dinah & agnes…I took some photos of mine & faythe’s. But ermm..the background wasn’t too impressive, so once again photoshop did the great work.
So which one do you prefer in this post? I like the red rose…very contrasting with the b&w feet hehe…

The Feet…looks like some advertisement huh!!

The fingers…bright colours….I like :)

Oct 19

For the pass few days…I don’t know what to blog about…suddenly idea kering kontang. But suddenly also I got obsessed with photo editing. Since I’ve just reinstalled Photoshop, all my fonts GONE!! So I went to search for some new fonts and managed to download a lot free ones…pretty cute ones (pic 2 & 3)too hehehe…And I’ve always admired Dinah’s website, she does very good editing for Ashley’s photos…So here’s what I’ve been doing for pass 3 days for my dearest Faythe. I like the Sunflower most…what bout u?

great combination of purple and yellow for the sunflower…and the photos nicely crop

different shades of b&w, enhanced with a pink rose..photos doesn’t look that great though..looks cluttered

batik print background…with some funny looking faces…batik print too bold…wordings are nice though haha…
