Training @ Renaissance Hotel
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Work | icon4 04 30th, 2006| icon314 Comments »
Nope, I didn’t went on early labour :P (I’m just touching 32 weeks lehh). I was just too busy with office work (been working late nights for the pass week, and I went off for training on Thursday & Friday. That explains why I went MIA, not even online!!!
Office arranged 15 of us to attend Biz Comm Training @ Renaissance Hotel. At last, a training not in office!!! So that we can all enjoy the good food and of course the training itself. The training was not about teaching us how to write biz letters to people, but in fact it was about how we can effectively communicate in our day to day work.
I enjoyed the food served during lunch. We went for 2 different restaurants on both days. Stuffed till the max!!! I think I took so much fish that it’s enough to last me for a week or more supply. I even skipped dinner on Thursday night, cause I was really really filled to the brim. Just can’t resist good food huh. Ohh..also first time trying *chocolate fondue*..hmm didn’t really like it, the chocolate did not harden, weird weird!! Still prefer Cheese Fondue.
We had lots of games too, and some of which I couldn’t play (due to my size!!). So I ended up becoming the photographer. The last game was fun too, something like Windows Minesweeper, but camera out of batt, so no photos :(.
And being in town, means I gotta leave home 7am in the morning. Goshhh…..the jam was really horrible. Am I glad that I don’t work downtown. But being in town as well gives me the opportunity to take photos of KLCC from the hotel. We were at Level 23, and strategically facing KLCC. Took some good photos of KLCC, with Philip giving me some tips too.
Guess what, I’m going back to this hotel again next Friday for yet another training!! Aiyoo…I enjoy the training, but hate to admit that I have to work OT after the training to clear my work :(

Achievement Weekend
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe, Scrapbooking | icon4 04 23rd, 2006| icon3No Comments »
It’s a weekend full of surprises from Faythe

I feed myself…
On Friday, she wanted to feed herself dinner (rice & bayam soup - with some sotong balls & crab meat). So Mommy give it a try and let her do it, of course Mommy holds her hand, so that she can aim correctly. Surprisingly, she’s very Happy (claps her own hand) and we manage to finish the whole bowl without juggle at ALL!!! Bravo….

I sort the shape…
On Saturday, as usual she was playing with her wooden bus cum shape sorter. And out of a sudden, she picked up the round shape, and slotted in correctly!!! Whoaa….Mommy so amazed lah…quickly went to grab the camera and snap photos. After that, she repeated the stint again & again (claps her own hand everytime she did it). Then she took a square, and again she slot it into the correct shape. Clever girl. Daddy & Mommy watch and amazed. But Daddy was jealous, he said when he was her age, he can recite poem wohhh……Yah, maybe in his dreams :P

I speak human language…
Yes…and her first word is ball. Akakakakaka…Mommy caught her first word when she’s at home, didn’t miss her precious milestone. Now when she sees ball, she will point and say ball. She does a lot of pointing to other things too, but utter some baby language. Things that belongs to Daddy, she will point and say “Teh dee ta ter dunno what*

Poo-bloopers
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe | icon4 04 21st, 2006| icon3No Comments »
Firstly, lets commerate today as a special day. Not because of the poo, but it’s the 201 post I’m posting in this blog. YAY!!!

Now lets talk about poo haha…

Lately, we try to ermm…sorta potty train Faythe. When we see her expression of about to poo, we will hurrily rush her to the potty or toilet bowl, rip her diapers and put her there, and do the usual ng-ng sound to make her poo.

Sometimes we are quick enough to catch her, and she does her biz in the potty or toilet bowl. BRAVO!!!

Sometimes we are slow, she had already poo in her diaper.

But this morning is certainly classic!!

Mommy was sitting at the dressing table and combing hair (today work from home hehe). Then Faythe was running around, then suddenly she just stopped and stood quietly. When I turn around and saw it, I was like…oh oh..*pang sai* (poo in hokkien). Quickly grab her and ran to the toilet.
Upon reaching there, I rip off her pyjamas and check the diaper, aiks, too late. But anyway, I was confident that she has not completed her biz.
So I carry her and made her to poo more in the toilet bowl. Ahh..after few minutes, saw some poo in the toilet bowl. And looks as if she’s done.
Then she stood up and I started cleaning her up and also threw the diaper away. Meanwhile, I ask her to take a diaper from the rack in the bathroom. As she stood there, and silly Mommy busy washing hand, oops…..she poo-ed on the floor!!! OMG!
I only realised it when I turned around and saw the poo on the floor. Eeee…..luckily she never move a bit, so I carry her aside and hold on to her (she was trying to runaway!!) then took some wet wipes and clean up the mess on the floor, then clean her up.
I think more this sort of blooper will arise when we start potty train her more.

Residents of the house
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Household | icon4 04 18th, 2006| icon315 Comments »

Some boring post, read on if you have time :P

Other than 3 adults (Mommy, Daddy, maid) and 1 toddler living in our house, we have other residents as well. Of course I’m not saying the cockroach, ants and other rodents. Those of which Mommy has got rid of them, most of them. Only can be seen once a while and they get terminated right away :).Daddy has got tonnes of pet of the same species, FISH!!! Yes, they are part of the Hon family. In fact, I’ve mentioned to Daddy the fish species is already outnumbering the homo sapien in the house!!

HISTORY
It all started from the old house we used to stay. We made an aquarium as a replacement of the wall. So when you enter the house, on the left side, you can see thru to the other side (the fridge). Most of our guest finds it intriguing and something special. We started our first batch of raring fish with Goldfish. They all look so cute and nice, but high maintenance fish. And the thing with Goldfish, they are very sensitive with water. If not right, they will fall sick. All sorts of sickness from white spots, torn tails and dunno what else. And the worse is it spreads from one to another!!! We started with 9, in the end all died..wohoohoo..*RIP PRAYERS*.

So after the batch of goldfish, we put in some carps there…just for stabilizing the water. But carps are no good for aquarium, they all look so ugly hehe…and they attempt to jump out of it too!! After a while, we decide not to put carps.

Oh..by the way, other than having an aquarium between the wall, we had a 6×4 ft tank in our balcony back then. That’s where all the carps reside. Daddy’s favourite fish. So whenever we buy new carps, they will go into the transit aquarium first, after they are considered *healthcheck pass*, they will be transferred into the carp tank.

After the carps, we decided to rare parrot fish. Parrot fish are very cute. They’ve got chubby cheeks and their mouth is like a heart shape hahaha….And if you are lucky, you can see them kissing each other sometimes :P

Other than the aquarium & tank, we also have a pot full of mollies, where we have some water lilies there as well.

NOW
When we moved, we migrated all the fishes. yes all of them!!! We actually transfer them in batches in pails and move them from old house to new house. Thank god the distance is not far, or else we would have resorted into putting them to sleep.

Again in the new house, Daddy ordered a custom made giant aquarium. Yes it’s really huge (6×4 ft I think), that the man told us this is the first time he’s making such a huge aquarium. The filter resides below the tank, separate from the actual one. And the special design about this is it’s a 2 in 1 fish tank. We placed this right at the entrace of the house, so people walking by can actually see thru into the house. Madness right!! Of of course, from the outside, we put on the grille. So all in we have 2 big tanks, and 2 water lilies pot. That’s a lot of fish and water too!! Which is why our water bill is rather high on months where we change the water. Luckily the exercise is not often, since the filtering system is working very well.

We added more fish into the family apart from the parrot and carps. Daddy initially bought 4 arowanas (cheap - mid range rate - most expensive is about 200). They came in different colour, one silver, one gold, one RTG (red tail gold) and one dunno what colour, looks like green to me. They were all same size and all in the same side of the tank (1 side for parrot, 1 side for arowana). Then they started to fight with each other, so they got separated, each side 2 arowana.

Surprisingly, arowana don’t dare to attack the parrots cause they are dominant fishes too. When Daddy went to China last year, one of it died (the cheap one). Pheww….luckily that was not his favourite. So we were left with 3. The silver one wasn’t doing well as well, so we moved it to our old house (that time MIL was staying there temporarily while her house got renovated).

So now only left 2 big arowana. They are growing more and more beautiful each day…especially when we put on different colour lights (blue, red or white), you can see the scales are so nicely defined. OOppss…can’t see any numbers yet to buy 4D though. They have blended in pretty well with the parrots and some cheapo lampan. So one side of the aquarium, you’ll see arowana with parrot, the other side is arowana with lampan.

What do they feed on? That’s the high maintenance. Arowana doesn’t take pallets like other fishes. They are carnivores. Try putting your finger in, chances are they might just attempt to bite it off if they are seriously hungry.

So here’s what we’ve got for them: Crickets & Frogs. Sometimes we buy worms as well. Faythe is very much aware of the additional residents in our house.

Aro: she points at the arowana
Fish: she points at rest of the fishes
Carp: she’s not allowed to go there as she might fall into the tank and drown. Forbidden area. Can only hear water sound from inside the house
Krew krew: That’s crickets to her…making the krew krew sound
Frog: she will point at the frogs we keep in a small tank, but dare not touch it. Mommy reminds her that they bite :)p/s: Photo of Arowana not very good cause the flash bounce back on the glass, so I took the one without flash but fish looks blurry. If you see carefully, there’s a horizontal line, that’s actually the glass which separates the arowana and the uniqueness of the 2 in 1 aquarium

Every kid loves the phone. Wonder why? Be it pressing the button, lifting the handset or just mere listening to the phone tunes.

Same goes to Faythe, she loves the phone. The funny thing is when u get them a toy phone, they don’t seem to fancy that, but instead they want your handphone. Here are photos of Faythe, attempting to make phone call

Hello Kitty House
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Faythe | icon4 04 14th, 2006| icon313 Comments »
It’s Friday night!!! No meetings, Daddy’s got late flight and maid cooking in the kitchen. So Mommy was entertaining Faythe, playing with her toys. As I sat on the chair, I took the Hello Kitty Pillow and ask Faythe, where’s the zipper. She pointed at the pillow’s zip.

Suddenly Mommy had this crazy idea. I opened up the zipper, and the pillow became a big blanket. This is actually a travelling pillow+blanket, when it’s zipped up, it serves as pillow, when it’s not, it serves as a blanket.

So after that, I started flipping the blanket in the air and Faythe got so excited…but because the blanket was quite big for her, she couldn’t do it herself.

Guess what lazy pregnant Mommy did. I built her a temporary house (only roof lah, no doors/windows) with 2 rattan chairs and 4 clothes peg!!!

And Faythe enjoyed playing *IN* her house for the next 15-30 mins. She was practically amazed with the roof..hahahaha…and walking in and out of her house :P. Even pose for photo for Mommy.

The 5 minutes Hellow Kitty Blanket house. I used to play like this at home when I was young, but only with towel, no blanket

Faythe entering to the house…She’s too tall for the house actually, head already touching the roof hahaha..

Taking her wooden bus and play in her new house…So syioklah, wish I could join her too :P

Posing for Mommy with her *O* shape mouth, reading her book outside her house.

Later I asked Faythe, where’s your house? She pointed at the Hello Kitty house hahaha…Little Things that amazes kids

Baking

Mommy is definitely not a good cook as Daddy has often show his funny look when tasting Mommy’s homecook food. Well, what to do, my Mom died so early, all her secret recipe didn’t pass to me. I only manage to learn soups from her. The rest I do trial and error from all sort of sources. Most of the time, it fails..dunno why also lah, maybe never put the heart to cook haha…Last month, I decided to *request* for an oven, after looking at all the yummy recipes Twinsmom made with her oven. So I told Daddy, I want an oven for my belated birthday gift. Of course I slotted in some good words to make him buy for me :P. So he actually went to get it. Very good bargain indeed, RM90 for a Pensonic oven. Since I’m a beginner, better not get something too fancy. I’m really happy with the gift. *Muaks* *Muaks*Ever since then, I started using the oven day in and out. I would say, at least 2 times a week. And I find it so so convenient, of course minus the oily floor too!!I’ve tried many recipes, some are self creation, some are modified from recipe book, and some from blogger Mommies too.

So here’s what Mommy been baking for dinner @ home. As for Daddy, he still show his OK face!! Everytime I ask him, he would just answer…OK lah…that’s all his comment on the food *kik sum*. But I can see that at least he’s more willing to eat my food haha….

HALL OF FAME…

3D2N @ Penang
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Travelogue | icon4 04 13th, 2006| icon314 Comments »
It’s not really a long weekend, but we decide to take off on Monday so that we get a long weekend cause Monday, 10th April, signifies 2 things. Daddy’s birthday..ho ho ho..old oredi, and of course our wedding anniversary, 3rd year :).

So we decide to go Penang, for Cheng Beng as well as for food and spending time together. 3 adults (incl. MIL), 1 baby, left KL at 5am in the morning. Faythe was asleep half the journey to Penang, then she woke up and was pretty hungry by the time we arrived Penang @ 9am. First stop for food was Kueh Teow soup at ermm..god knows where. MIL is very familiar with Penang since she’s local there, so finding the place is not an issue. We also had Lobak (yum yum) for breakfast.

Then we went to MIL’s auntie’s house in Pulau Tikus to pay them a visit. Spent our morning there till lunch time. Faythe was having fun time there, roaming around the new place but was tired by 11am+, so Mommy put her to sleep and we had our lunch, Mee rebus from another place (hubby’s cousin tapau). We left to check-in to hotel about 12+, staying at Northam. Very nice hotel, it comes with a jacuzzi hehehe…so Faythe enjoyed her first bubble bath!!.

After check-in and shower, we waited for my brother to come over, we left @ 2pm went to Chowrasta to buy salted fish. MIL bought so many salted fish, whole boot filled with it. Then we went to Sua Tow Lane for tea. Had some ice kacang, char kueh teow as well as curry laksa. Don’t really fancy the Laksa though, it’s less *santan* in Penang. Then we went back to hotel to take a nap before we head for dinner @ Lorong Selamat. It was pork porridge. Yum yum…And we ordered the famous Fried Oyster (oh-chien). So much of oysters lah!!! And Daddy ordered some *chut tan* and ermm..got knows what shell is that. Not forgetting the yummy Umbra drink. Mommy had 3 cups, some gave to Faythe.

Next we went to MIL’s auntie’s house again..a lot of chit chatting going on. Faythe as usual, since this her 2nd time there, becomes her ownself and was very happy playing with the piano, writing by herself and playing with Mommy.

Next day morning, we went to Pulau Tikus for breakfast. They’ve got yummy Mee Goreng Mamak there. My brother introduced us to try the food. We also ordered some Curry Laksa (again!!) and Nasi Lemak Penang Style. Then we went to the different graves for Cheng Beng. It was an easy ritual since we are Christians. Just get some flowers and put it on the grave, that’s it. Very fast LOL. Myself and Faythe skipped 2 of the graves as they say pregnant *pantang*. So we stayed back in the car to wait for Daddy & MIL.

Then we went lunch @ Jalan Bahari (I think). Teochew food, pretty nice too..didn’t take photo, was too hungry hahaha…After that, Faythe took a trishaw ride with MIL and she was so tired, she fell asleep after the ride started just 5 mins!!. We went back to hotel, Daddy and MIL went to buy tea, so Mommy and Faythe in hotel. Faythe refused to sleep and she was hungry. Fed her with a pau and some milk while Mommy watch National Geographic. Then gave her a quick shower.

Earlier, Daddy bought her a stick from the market @ Pulau Tikus, so she was playing with it, like a Shaolin kid. Daddy and MIL came back around 4pm, and the next plan was swimming!! Daddy’s cousin came over too with 2 of her kids. They all went swimming. The swimming pool has a very nice beach view of Penang. Mommy busy snapping photos, Faythe busy getting up and down the pool. At first she was pretty afraid, and it was cold too. But after a while, she got warmed up. She even decide to go without float!!! SO daring. Of course we didn’t allow, since it’s an adult pool.

After swimming, we all went to SOHO for their sheperd pie. SOHO is nearby Cititel. Their lamb sheperd pie is yummy, the chicken taste a bit sour though. Daddy says is like that wohh…After dinner, MIL went to get some stuff with Daddy’s cousin, whilst we went to Gurney Plaza with Mommy’s brother and gf. Nothing much there, just another shopping mall. There were Aussino sales, Mommy managed to grab 2 fitted seats for the price of RM29.90 each haha…then we went to Tower Records to have a look at CDs, Faythe was so busy posing for Mommy’s brother to take photo. Aiyo so hiao lahh..Must get those pics from him later on.

Then we bought a mini blueberry cheese cake for Daddy, since it’s his birthday on Monday. We ate the cake on Sunday night, couldn’t wait hehehe…Faythe had her fair share of course. She also had the leftover chilled cake on the next day :).

Before we head back to KL, we went Pulau Tikus again for breakfast, but this time it’s a different shop. MIL and Daddy had *prawn paste* chu cheong fun. Yucks!! I can’t imagine eating that, tasted once and it’s real weird!! Then we bought some nasi lemak and ate over at MIL’s auntie’s house (last time paying her a visit) before we leave. We left Penang about 11am+. Faythe was so tired, she slept as soon as we start the car engine.

We stopped by at one of the Plus R&R and she woke up, she’s hungry. Gave her some Milo since we didn’t have any warm water to make milk. Then gave her some chocolates too..after that she fell asleep, right up to our doorstep.

Finally arrived in KL @ 3pm.

We went dinner with the family at night @ Paris Restaurant SS2. Ordered *Sau Mien* since it’s Daddy’s birthday. After dinner we went home, all so tired, luckily next day not working hehe…As for Faythe…Oopss..what happened to her? Bandage on the cheek and forehead :P.

Actually it’s nothing lahh…Daddy was playing with her, so stick some plaster on her forehead and cheek and tell her pain pain…she looked at the mirror and gave us a weird look, but didn’t dare to touch her face et all hahaha…..

As usual, Mommy and Daddy had a good laugh at it, esp. Mommy.

From the trip, we also found out that Faythe now understand more things that we say. When we were @ SOHO, she was so active and didn’t wanna sit down, Daddy beat her hand. She cried out so loud, after that just sat quitely and eat up the green peas.

At night when we ask her who beat, she pointed Daddy. when we ask her where pain, she pointed her hand. After that we ask her, cake nice or not, she knodded to show agree. But when we ask, Daddy sayang or not, she shook her head hahaha…still can remember Daddy beat her hand I guess :P

I’m now officially 15 months, as of last night!! Mommy supposed to blog bout my progress, but the lazy pig Mommy slept together with me last night and couldn’t wake up even when Daddy came home @ 130am!!. Nevermind, it’s never too late to announce that I’m almost 500days old hahaha….Anyway, Mommy thought that she shouldn’t be writting bout my progress as usual, but I should put in my own progress…how I feel about being 15 months with all my cool looking photos :)

Weight: 9.4kg (I put on another 400gms, no wander everyone says I’m so heavy!!)

Height: 75cm (hmmm…I’ve not been growing tall for a few months, maybe time to start rope skipping)

Teeth: I’ve got 4 fully grown ones in front, and there are a few more vampire teeth coming up!! That explains why I’m constantly looking for things to bite now as my gums are so itchy.

Things I know:
  • Though I can’t speak much human language, I find that I’m doing quite well in terms of understanding adults
  • Body parts I know: eye, nose, ears, hair, shoulder (just learned yesterday), teeth (but I refuse to show them my pearly white, instead I’ll stick my tongue out)
  • When Mommy sings (her lyrics are real BAD!!!), I can do some actions, if I know that song well
  • I take instructions pretty well, understand most of the words like put, give, there, here, where etc…
  • I’m more talkative now, and speaks more distinctive baby babble like mum mum (food), da-dee, ma-mee(the mee always sound as though I’ve swallowed the word), sir (that’s how kakak calls daddy, i sorta immitate her), woof (dog)…and a lot more babble which Mommy & Daddy doesn’t understand
  • Daddy loves me alot, and always get so geram he squeezes me and kiss me..eee….I don’t like that!!!
  • Mommy always like to MIA and go upstairs when I don’t notice it, she’s so so cunning
  • I’m going to have a di-di soon cause Mommy always show me her big tummy and tell me di-di inside
  • I’m grandma’s pet. She always buys me beautiful dresses
  • I know when my food is hot, I will have to blow it…
  • I can immitate words and some facial expression pretty well.
  • When Mommy holds her rotan, she really mean it!! If I’m not sitting, I can attempt chase n run session with Mommy holding the rotan, and me running away haahaha…..

Things I like:

  • I enjoy watching Wheels on the Bus (Mommy introduced the vcd to me last month). And I can follow some of the actions they do now
  • I like playing @ our house’s frontyard, cause that’s where I can grab the fishes in Daddy’s teratai pond
  • I enjoy car rides, especially when there’s biscuit to eat in my car rides
  • I enjoy taking photos too…sometimes I’ll pose for Mommy, but sometimes I will runaway from it…challenging Mommy hahaha….
  • I enjoy writting very much, I think Mommy gotta get me a proper set of colour pencils soon :)

Things I eat:

  • basically I eat anything that goes into my mouth.
  • I love sour fruit….so so sour….I will shake my head and stick my tongue out, but then I will still try to finish the fruit
  • I do spit out my food sometimes, and Mommy will smack my mouth :(. So now I don’t dare anymore
  • I still take milk 2-3 times a day, 4-6oz each time. Sometimes when I don’t drink from the bottle, Mommy will trick me to drink from my Elmo cup with straw. I love drinking with the straw, cause it shows that I’m mature like adults mah hehehe
  • I’m quite adventurous with my food. I will point and request for food tasting whenever I see the adults are eating and I’m not given a portion. Try first reject later mah :P

Photos I like - here are the photos that Mommy took lately showcasing my multi-facial expression and multi talent

me acting as cowgirl…yeee-haaa

my flat mouth look when I disagree with you

I’m a chef at home too…that’s the pitcher I use to boil soup
