I’ve been away for 11 days as of today. I so miss KL and so miss the kids. We’ve just got back from our vacation and now I’m still in Vietnam, transit at Daddy’s house LOL (having some Jet lag too :|). Will be taking the flight back late evening today. I’ve not check my office work for the pass 11 days, I think it’s gonna be pile up as high as Petronas Twin Towers :(.

I’m not sure bout you, but I’m a person that gets home sick after travelling for some time. Though KL might not be the best place to live in, but then again, home is still home.

There’s really alot backdated post that I wish I have time to put it up, some back in July itself!! The 1st thing I’m going to do when I arrive home tonight is to download all my office emails and clear some of them, so that when I resume work on Tuesday I won’t be like a mad dog. While downloading the emails, have to unpack and dump all the dirty laundry to wash and mop the floor. Then tomorrow can enjoy some ME time with the kids.

See you soon KL.

Entering Week 3

Well, I’m still very much alive here. I’m into my 3rd week without having a maid/helper at home. So far it’s still manageable. 3 weeks ago, when the thoughts of not having a maid came rushing into my brain, I was really upset. Not only by the fact that my maid is returning home (after working with us for 3 years, 4 months), but I was trying to figure out a plan where I could accommodate everyone: office, kids, MIL, hubby.

I tried sourcing for a part time maid for 2 months, but up to the very last day before my maid left, there weren’t any available. The sucking thing bout getting a part time is, no maid agency will give you a part time, unless you get a permanent maid with them. And my agent didn’t have 1. So at my wits end, I played poker with my manager (boss if you read this, so be it lah..). Just to cut the story short, I manage to get my boss’ boss (big boss) on exception that I can work from home for 2 months till I get my new maid (by end of Sept).

So I got a very nice arrangement, morning go office. Noon work from home and manage the kids at the same time. Then I sorted out with MIL, that she will still continue to cook lunch for the kids and dinner, they will eat the same food (I bring the food back home). So meals are sorted out, at least for the kids :).

I was very worried that I won’t be able to do groceries with 2 kids in tow, I stocked up 8 boxes of milk powder (refill pack) and a kg of my kids fav biscuits, and some other stuff before my maid left. Enough to last us till the new one comes LOL.

It was such a relieve that this plan came in perfectly well and so far we are still OK. My daily schedule goes:

  • 8-12pm - Kids at School, Mommy goes to Work at Office
  • 12-1pm - Kids at MIL’s for lunch, I eat lunch with my colleagues (at the same time KPC about office stuff :P)
  • 1pm - pick the kids up from MIL’s. Pack some food back for dinner time.
  • 2pm - after shower, put them to sleep. Sometimes they nap 1 hour, sometimes 2. While they sleep, I do my work, sometimes some conference call.
  • 3/4pm - kids wake up. Let them play with their toys a bit.
  • 5pm - turn on the TV. They will watch some cartoons while I finish off my work and heat up the soup for dinner. Multi-task.
  • 6pm - Let them play at the car porch, sometimes they will water the plant, but usually end up like playing water and getting themselves wet.
  • 7pm - Bath, and dinner time. I still checking my emails, cause work from home sometimes result in longer working hours.
  • 8pm - We are all done. catch up with olympics and then put the kids to bed by 9pm+.

This is what we do on weekdays. On weekends, no more going out from the house since there’s no helper. But I still bring them to the park, early morning, where there’s nobody LOL. My main concern is for their safety. Hence I try to bring them to less crowded places where I can watch over both of them.

Then lunch, I’ll cook something simple, and dinner we order Pizza etc. Unhealthy but then again, not much choice we have.

I brought both of them out for dinner last sat. It was manageable :). At least both sat down quietly and we finish up the food.

On weekends, I’ll usually clean the house. Used to be everyday mopping and sweeping, now since no maid it’s every week LOL. So TV will babysit them for 1.5 hours, then I’ll clean the whole house & change the bedsheet.

I’m still doing laundry twice a week and Faythe sometimes help me to hang the clothes hehe…the only thing I haven’t done is ironing. Still got enough clothes to go around haha….

No doubt it’s tiring, but I’m really glad that things are working out as I’ve planned so far. Sometimes, I wake up at 6am+ in the morning and catch up with some blog reading, etc. I still get some me time in between. I’m still sane at least :P. Good thing Daddy is not around, if not the house will be twice as messy :|.

OK, so much so for the updates, I’m going for another short break. I’d be back in September. Hopefully by then I’ll start putting up all my travelling post. We will be travelling again end of this month. The last travel for the year hopefully.

When we talk about team’s performance in office, we always relate to KPI (Key Performance Index). Each tower is tied to a certain KPI and that is how we deliver our service to our customers, based on KPIs & SLAs. But how effective could this be? I don’t know. Some how I feel that these are just stats to show customers how we are performing, but does it really show what is actually happening on the ground? I doubt so. Probably with cpm introduced, it would relate how we are performing actually, versus excel spreadsheets & graphs.

Whenever we hire someone from the market out there, we always have 1 worry. Not sure if that person has a clean background. It’s really impossible to tell via a couple of interviews cause they could mask it pretty well. I wonder if there is any agent that provides employment screening services to enable employers to hire without too much to worry. That’ll be a great software to have for the HR department.

Many years ago, I bought myself term life insurance via my auntie. At that time, cost of living is not that high hence it was only a small sum in case anything happens. Now many years down the line, things has changed. I think it’s time to get another term life insurance quote and buy another policy on top of what I already have.

If you think Christmas is still many moons away, well it’s actually not. We are coming into September in a few days time and then there’s just 3 more months to Christmas!! So why not start early and plan for your Christmas Party. Send out Christmas invitations early to your friends to ensure they can make it for your Christmas Party.

Many years ago when flat irons, rollers & curls were introduced to the public, it was a pretty exciting time. Imagine that you can get curls or straight on your hair with these temporary irons. Though it is quite a hefty investment, I think it cost about RM150 at least for a set of 2 irons, but it’s certainly cheaper than going to saloon every now and then and get your hairstyle changed. But nowadays, it’s getting more and more affordable to own irons for the hair. But I personally do think that if you want to get flat iron, make sure you get the best flat irons to ensure it doesn’t end up spoiling your hair. Some could be pretty cheap but we do not know what material it is made off. In a long run it could end up spoiling our hair. So make sure you get the best flat irons.

I recall very clearly when my kids were young, we were pretty worried that their feet might caught in between the crib, so I was pretty delighted one day when I received some crib bedding as gift. I quickly put it on and it worked fine as protection for the kids till when they are much older and started rolling about on the bed.

I’ve been wanting to deco the house sometime ago with loads of picture frames, but just haven’t got the time to go and purchase the frames. I think I can easily spend RM500 on frames itself, as there are just too many frames I want to purchase to deco the living hall (upstairs & downstairs), the stairs, and some in our room.

The street lights are always broken, on and off. I just can’t understand why is it so inconsistent. Since it’s so unpredictable, I thought it’d be good to get some outdoor lighting for our Garden, in case the street lights go off, we can still light up the garden brightly. So now must go hunting for some outdoor lightings for our garden.
