The fact that my 1st day of CNY was dampened with cold & fever, it somehow or rather affected my mood over the Chinese New Year. I had actually took leave for the whole week except on 4th day of CNY I was working due to standby.

On 5th & 6th day of CNY, we wanted to getaway from the kids at Bukit Tinggi, but I was too lazy and just recovered from sickness, I rather give it a skip.

Note: if the photos are too bright or too dark, it’s cause I’ve not calibrated my screen…gotta get it done soon!!

On eve of CNY

Faythe inserting notes into the angpau.

Kids help me to pack angpau packets. We did a lot of packing cause we are visiting old folks home this year. Faythe as usual is ever so eager…girls are girls :). As for Vyktore, he did help too, but he didn’t have the patient.

Vyktore inserting a stash of RM1 into angpau which I’m holding. I always prefer use RM1 instead of RM5 or RM10, cause it’s bulky hahaha…

On 2nd Day of CNY

Early morning went to old folks home to distribute AngPau. It’s a tradition from FIL’s day and Daddy wants to continue this. This is also the old folks home that we went during our wedding day.

Then we went to catch movies: Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thieft (double thumbs up!!)

I had friends over at my house, ex-BB gathering. It’s great to catch up with friends who came back from all over the place (London, HK & Singapore). And we went gaga over lil Tsun Chuen who is already turning 2 months+.

And nope, my friends never forget my birthday, WJ even bought me a birthday cake :). How sweet…thanks dear. No photo of me and the cake as the photo was taken by Audrey. Need to get it from her :).

We spent alot of time chatting, catching up, gossiping (about office and love life of course :P). Then Eelaine & WJ left, so Audrey, Hui Shi & our family went to have dinner behind my house before proceeding to some drinking game at my house where my maid tried to poison all of us O.o.

On 3rd Day of CNY

Never do anything, just continue lazing around the house. We did manage to clean up the room upstairs which is now vacant since Lawrence & family has moved out to their own home. Packed a few bags of old books, notes and what nots. And we went for movies while the maid clean up the room.

Received a love sms from my MIL: I give you lots of hugs & kisses…xoxoxoxo…(as my birthday present O.o)

On 4th Day of CNY

Work Work Work….I’m on duty on 4th Day. It’s great to work during CNY actually, cause you can clear alot of backlog work and there’s no disturbance.

We also manage to catch movies: Little Big Brother. OK lah…I prefer Jacky Chan’s other movies.

On 5th Day of CNY

Went to GEL to sort out insurance payment for Daddy cause he cancelled his auto payment earlier.

Then we went to EPF Office to name our Pewaris as well as activate the online access.

After that, I went to splurge RM2700 to buy myself a birthday gift comprising of: A new desktop, 20″ LCD screen &  a bamboo fun. I definitely couldn’t see myself getting netbooks since my usage is pretty high.

On 6th Day of CNY

More spring cleaning & laze around the house.

On 7th Day of CNY

Vyktore been reminding us to take him for train ride ever since we started passing the LRT Station on our way to school in the morning. So we went for LRT ride. We took a ride to Pavilion hence we changed train at KL Sentral and it’s a big mistake. Cause from KL Sentral we had to walk to far to the other train!!! Should have just head straight to KLCC.

Here are photos taken on that day.

Want to join me for a ride?

Another shot of them with the ticket.

Father & son time. Vyktore is very scared of Mr. Hon so it’s not very often he will wanna get close to Daddy, but since he’s taking a train ride, he’s OK with Daddy.

The train parked far from the station.

Boarding the train. Thought Saturday nobody, but turned up quite packed too.

In the train. Vyktore is all excited.

Faythe looking out.

Vyktore looking out. He brought along Bumblebee for the train ride.

Pavilion. My first time setting foot here. This used to be my alma mater…sigh…I simply can’t imagine my school was that huge!! The moment I step into there, I kept wandering, which part of my school is this.

Fake cherry blossom trees outside Pavilion. Hate the scorching sun…super hawt & overcast!!

My latest punk hairstyle :)…Gosh, I look so fat!!

Outside the fountain. I suppose this is near our school Saga Tree & parking lots.

Entrance into Pavilion (ex office block), filled with lanterns.

Inside Pavilion. I must admit that they are so clever to put up the trees like growing from the sides of Pavilion. Nice!!

Another shot of the trees & lantern.

Faythe with her kungfu post with the Crane.

Vyktore trying to check out if the Crane is real :P.

Pretending to eat lotus seed LOL. We have lots of these at home, bought it from Vietnam. Simply delicious & healthy snacks!!

Vyktore at one of the stall checking out the CNY decorations.

Faythe trying to put the deco on her head as headgear.

Checking out some stones. Vyktore has obsession over stones O.o.

Tang Lung decoration from the inside.

A random shot from the top. I think this a coffee bar or somesort.

On 8th Day of CNY

It’s my Chinese Birthday. And of course it’s also the Pai Tin Kong day. We had fireworks all night which we watch from our bedroom window. I only manage to sleep at 2am :(.

On 9th Day of CNY

It’s back to work officially. Had visitors from Beijing & we had dinner at 1World Hotel. Didn’t take any photos cause very *pai seh*. Eating with big shots, takkan wanna take out camera take pic of food right :P.

And after that it’s work all the way……

On 13th Day of CNY

Morning went for a newborn photoshoot.

Evening went Lala Chong with Jayden’s family & my brother. Good thing we were there early. It started raining cats n dogs the moment we arrived. Bump into Wai Leng there too.

Will upload the photos later after I download.

And the coming 2 days…it’s the end of CNY…will get the kids open up their angpau and bank into the bank.

Not a very eventful CNY, but I’m sure this year would be a better year for all of us :).

> More insurance <

I recently went to my local insurance co to settle some payments which went hair wired due to hubby canceling his credit card. Then I realized that is the sum I bought some 10yrs ago sufficient? Looking at our std of living these days, it’s not gonna be enough definitely. I hate to speak to insurance agent as they are so persistent and annoying!! I must go look around where I can obtain free insurance quotes.

My colleague recently told me that I can loose weight by playing Wii Fit. I’m surprised, is that true? I must get a few workout CDs and try if that’s gonna help. I seriously need to loose some weight and getting a home gyms solutions is definitely way more expensive than getting a few workout CDs. At least it won’t take up alot of space as we are already running out of space at home.

With April approaching soon and at that time is open season for diving, I’m very tempted to bring the kids and hubby for a trip to East Coast. Seriously, after all the travelling to Phuket, I still think that East Coast beach is better. I truly misses the white sandy beaches. These beaches are less crowded as opposed to Phuet. You don’t even need custom beach towels when you go to the beach.

> The hot weather <
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Duit Kopi | icon4 02 26th, 2010| icon3No Comments »

With the recent surge of hot weather, I’m really getting so restless. My kids are warm, even though they are sleeping!! This must be the effect of global warming. I wonder how long this weather gonna last. If it’s June, I’m doomed. I can foresee more acne popping out on my face too. And more oil!! Time to look for some proactiv solution for my face therapy. My current product is not doing me good.

> RM50 for a card <
icon1 jazzmint | icon2 Duit Kopi | icon4 02 26th, 2010| icon3No Comments »

Lately the government came up with a new regulations, that each person can only hold 1 credit card. In the event that you hold more than 1, the subsequent card will be charged a fee of RM50. And that amount goes to the government!!! I wouldn’t say I’d support such move as it impacts me. But such a move is great for those who has bad credit credit cards. Time to clean their bills.

> My next travel <

I’m starting to plan for my next trip…again it’s gonna be back to back 3 weeks this time probably :(. I hope this the last league for the year, at least not for another 6 months I’ll be traveling. With such crazy schedules, I wonder if I ever gonna have some time to earn extra income at home. No time to even unpack my bags!!

Feb 25

it’s probably the worse ever Birthday I ever had in my life.

To start with, this year my birthday is very special. Not only it’s Valentine’s Day, it’s also 1st day of Chinese New Year. Very cool yah…

And what I did on that day? I spent half the day sleeping at home as I was down with cold & fever…huhuhuh….

Early morning, we went to MIL’s house to pai lin. Then we watched DVD there till 1pm. Weather is freaking hot during CNY. Must be global warming effect. I can feel adult acne popping out of my face anytime with such freaky weather!!

After that we went home and I slept from 2-6pm, and Mr. Hon went out to his ex-colleague’s house.

He came home at 6pm and asked me to go upstairs to sleep as downstairs was pretty hot. I purposely slept downstairs and just on the fan so that I sweat and recover faster.

After going upstairs, I continued sleeping till 9pm at night O.o…when Faythe came in and told me, “Mommy, Daddy’s friend downstairs”.

I finally went downstairs after taking my shower and chatted a bit with his friends. Then had my dinner.

What a pathetic way to celebrate my birthday LOL.

Nevertheless, I still receive my present from Daddy & Faythe.

Mr. Hon got me a *special edition* Iphone from Vietnam. Why special ah…you see the phone, it has got pink design LOL…In Vietnam, it’s very common they skin their phones and laptops. And they do it very professionally. Nice or not :).

Faythe, she drew this for me @ her art class & she made this shopping bag for me so that I can go shopping during CNY with it :).

This is supposed to be a tiger sitting on a horse. But looks more like a pig sitting on a horse. Those Chinese words are written by her teacher.

Front & back view of the paper bag. Again the words are written by her teacher & the tiger too. She only drew, coloured and cut all those cute little paper shapes and stick on the bag.

Feb 23

Faythe will start Primary 1 in 2012. I seriously can’t imagine that it’s my turn to hunt for Primary School. Just like yesterday she was born!!

From day 1 (right when she was born!!), we’ve decided that we will send her to Chinese School. No question about it for sure. Very funny, that my parents used to work so hard to ensure I get into a good English/BM School, now it’s the other way round. Parents work hard to make sure they get into Chinese School. How time changes.

I actually planned to go check a few schools and do some comparison before I decide. Look, it’s planned, but didn’t happen :P. Due to shortage of time & CNY School Closure.

So there are actually 5 Schools to pick from based on where we are staying. I only manage to visit 1 of the school.

Out of all these schools, only the one I visited has morning session for Std 1. Though it’s not my criteria, but morning session will make my life easier since I have to take care of 2 kids and I’m not a SAHM.

Out of all these schools, the one I visited seems to have the least student/class. Teacher:Student ratio of 1:30.

Out of all these schools, 4 of them are famous and well known, plenty of students, heard alot feedbacks regarding school homework, teachers, etc, etc…

I also spoke to parents in School when I visited the school. Some of them have children in the other schools, so they compared and mentioned to me this school has so much lesser homework compared to the rest of the 4 schools.

I also took a peek at the School Canteen. They were selling noodles, rice, and some snacks like cakes, kuih-muih. Nothing *devillish* like Twisties and junks like that.

My rational of deciding the school:

  1. I’m a banana (I read very little Chinese, but speaks Mandarin quite fluent - especially ever since I started my existing job) so it will not be easy for me to assist my child in Mandarin subjects. So I need to choose 1 with less homework to manage.
  2. I figure that if my child is weak in Mandarin (I expect that she’s not strong since we don’t speak Mandarin at home), she’d require more attention from her class teacher. And having a smaller class to manage (teacher:student ratio), it will be easier for teacher to give attention to the student.
  3. A place that is not super jam and I don’t need to spend 30mins on the road to send her and go back to house to pick Vyktore (at least for the 1st year, when Vyktore is still 6yo).

Hence, I decided to enrol at the school I’ve visited. And I went to the school today and completed the enrollment :). Yes, they are open for enrollment since Feb, no need to wait March :P.

Yes, the school is pretty small, they only have 1 class/age, only 160 students as of this year. Probably when Faythe starts her class, there’ll be more classes, but I doubt it’d double the amount by then, since this is rather low profile school.

I also like the way school handles parents. I understand that most school will not allow parents to hang around the school after 2 days in school, but being a worried parent, I’d like to go there sometimes for more than 2 days to ensure my child is OK. And this school allows that. They even have an area for parents to sit and wait. That was where I manage to interact with the parents and find out more.

So parents with 2005 babies, have you deciced? 1st March is d-Date :). I’ve done my duty. Now I can concentrate for my weight loss products as I’m been gaining pounds recently O.o.

Note: Sorry, unable to disclose the name of school due to privacy issue, but if you’d like to know, drop me an email or leave a comment. I’ll share with you :) .

Feb 18

I’ve not blogged about my maid for sometime. Not because she has gotten worse or anyhow better from the last I wrote about her. But I rather not pollute my blog with all maid dramas. But this round, I simply can’t help to write about this, just to serve as a reminder to all readers who has a maid at home.

FYI, my maid is a Cambo, and she has worked for me for 1.5yrs. She understands English perfectly, she can even answer me back sarcastically.

On 2nd day of CNY, I had friends over at my house. After dinner 2 of them continued to lepak around my house and we decided to play some dice game (a game which requires you to drink when you guess it wrongly). So Mr. Hon asked the maid for some ice to chill the diluted Whisky.

Our maid told us that we ran out of Ice. Fine. It’s never a practice to make ice cubes at home, we usually buy them from 7-eleven in a bag.

Few minutes later, she said got ice, and passed us a cup with ice inside. So Mr. Hon happily drop those 4 cubes of ice into the diluted Whisky.

Then my friend spotted that the Whisky looks weird, like a slurpee texture. So I told her wow..our Whisky turned Slurpee…yummy. And I asked Mr. Hon to add some water.

As we continued to play the game, it was my friend’s turn to drink. She took a sip of the drink with the ice, and she immediately spotted that something is wrong.

Then Mr. Hon tasted his and it tasted like jelly in whisky O.o. And we all tasted it, it is definitely not ice!! It’s either Bird Nest, jelly or something else. But 101% sure not ice.

It can’t be Bird Nest, cause I’ve not been boiling Bird Nest for sometime. And I don’t freeze my Bird Nest.

It’s definitely not Jelly, cause I don’t make Jellies as well. The only possible Ice I would have made was Ribena Ice for the kids!!

We instantly call the maid and ask her what was it she gave to us. And she proudly acclaimed that “It’s ice lah” (Can say lah somemore O.o)

Mr. Hon: Where did you get the ice from?
Maid: in the fridge lah
Mr. Hon: Where’s the plastic bag?
Maid: Throw already, outside the house.
Jasmine: Go search the plastic bag where it’s used to store the ice you gave us and show us.

She went to dig for the plastic bag (with a face black as Pau Ching Tien - that’s her usual expression when she gets scolding)

While she was digging, we already suspect that she gave us some Desicant/Silica Gel as Ice. I have those “Techni Ice” in my freezer, been sitting there for 3 yrs. Ever since I stop transporting BM from office to home, I just kept them in freezer. Only 4 cubes. And I notice it was missing from the freezer!!

Minutes later, she came back, don’t have….

Jasmine: How can don’t have, you just threw the wrapper outside, not 10yrs ago. It has to be there.

So I asked her to bring the rubbish in and pour everything on the floor and search again.

She pretend couldn’t find, cause I was there searching with her thru the smelly rubbish. But I saw!!

A plastic like Ice Wrapper.

I took it out and inspect.

She quickly claimed, “Ya this the ice lah” (Somemore so confident, you silly woman)

Seriously, she opened up the Techni Ice and gave it to us as Ice for us to consume!!

I can’t imagine if she opened it up for my kids to consume O.o.

Those 4 cubes, I’ve actually put it at the door of the freezer so that the kids would never spot it. Also, for so many gazillionth times that we organise parties (be it big or small), we always use ice from 7-eleven. Never never that we use ice in cubes or any of such that is found packed nicely like Techni Ice. So who on earth did she learned to use Techni Ice as Ice for us to consume. God knows!!

She personally told me that, “I tell myself this is ice, so I give it to you lah”.

Wah liao eh…I shall not explain further what happens next, as all employers who has a maid at home, you’d probably do the same as what I did after I found out what was actually THE ICE!!

Good thing I don’t bake at home, if not she would have mistaken my night cream as icing for the cake!!
