Day 12: 2nd Farewell: Sze Ming

Had our 2nd farewell last night with a close family friend, Sze Ming, Sim & Max.

Faythe specifically requested for this photo, captured with the PNS Camera, hence the poor ISO handling.

Believe it or not, we’ve only met each other like less than 5 times (including last night’s dinner), but we sound more like we’ve known each other for such a long time.

Sze Ming is actually friend of Mr. Hon. But when she got pregnant and became a Mommy, eventually she became my friend as well :) .

Last we met was during Vyktore’s fullmoon party, and Vyktore is already 5 years old!! Time flies. Her son, Max, is the coolest boy I’ve ever met. He loves stories about dragons, sword fights and all that a boy would love. When we send them home, he wanted to come to our house to play.

Sze Ming, I hope he enjoys the story books you’ve bought for him. Lets try to meet up more often next time ya. *Hugs*

Day 15: The TANK & it’s living things

Can you see the glass in between? Look closely :)

They’ve been with us for 6 years. When we first moved in, they were size was barely the length on an iPhone. At the time they left us, they were both about 35cm long.

Lets talk about the tank before we talk about the fish as the tank marks an important part of our house. When we were renovating our house, we converted one side of the house into a fish tank, size 6ft x 4 ft. It requires about 1 hour to fill the whole tank up. *Crazy*. Right below it, there’s a filter system that works by itself for the pass 6 years, with minimal intervention required (thank GOD for that). And the magical thing about this tank is there’s a glass that divides the tank into 2. You will not notice it unless you take a closer look at it :) . It shares the same water and everything, but the fishes are separated.

That, actually enabled us to keep 2 Arowana in 1 tank. Cool right. Invented by Mr. Hon…made by aquarium shop in PJ Old Town. The man actually came to our house and install the tank there n then cause it was too huge to bring over from his shop. And before we put the tank there, that area did look like we are selling hotdogs & tickets over the counter.

The cleaning of the tank is an uphill task. Usually done by the skillful maid, and then it became part of my job when the maid left/runaway, and then I got fedup and just left it to grow moss allover :P . Not forgetting the food we need to feed them. Consist of mainly:

  1. Frogs
  2. Earthworms
  3. Crickets
  4. Centipede
  5. Baby fishes

Each time we travel for longer than 3 days, we need to appoint someone to feed them. Thanks to Lawrence & Frank for taking care of the fishes each time we are away.

On one of my short business trip, I didn’t appoint either of them to feed the fish because I thought it was a short one, should be alright. Made sure I fed them before leaving, and when I got back, disaster struck. The whole tank of fish on the inner side died. 5 parrot fish, 1 arowana (the one with chip implanted). Reason: Power trip.

Took Lawrence & me 2 hours to clean up the mess.

The day finally came, on 11th June (same day as when we movers came), his new owner came and pickup the remaining arowana & parrot fishes.Took the man 2 hours to get him into the plastic bag. Had to sedate the fish.

He will be missed for sure.

The new owner, proudly holding the Arowana. Good bye…Mr. Hon gonna miss you.

Can you share your PC room with your other half?

My answer is a NO.

2 reasons that I can’t share room with him:

  1. He loves aircond. The moment he comes into the room, he switches it on. I hate it because it blows directly behind me and makes me chill. And not forgetting making my lips dry…I prefer to use the fan, anytime.
  2. He’s the utimate messy man. He leaves his things lying around and then start searching for it at every other place except where he left. I bet my things will be lost as well very soon.

And because we’ve been sharing room for the few months since we moved the kids bed into the other room, I’m currently suffering from tornado-after-effect every now and then whenever he comes home. Is this a man thing or is it only my other half?

    Closing the 2010 Curtain

In a few hours from now, 2010 will become history. And we will welcome 2011.

As the final post of the year, lets all look back at what has happened. I seriously thinks that 2010 has passed by so fast that it felt like only yesterday it was Jan 2010.

    In January

Faythe had her wart removed from her finger, just right after she turned 5. Then followed by a couple of business trip before Chinese New Year comes into picture.

    In February

We celebrated a triple celebration: My birthday, CNY & Valentine’s Day. This is also the 1st yr we celebrate CNY together with Mr. Hon in KL, ever since he started working in Vietnam. It was also my 1st time set foot in Pavilion. It was also the month where we got Faythe registered for her Primary School, in 2012. Not forgetting my Cambo maid attempt to poison us with Techni Ice O.o.

    In March

I spent 2 weeks working in Jakarta, and the rest was history I guess. I also made a trip to Yogjakarta, to visit the beautiful Borobodur. Finally get to strike this off from my To-Go-Wish List.

    In April

The man of the house turned 40, and I threw him a surprise party. It was also our 7th wedding anniversary. We also sempat to squeeze in a trip to Bukit Tinggi.

    In May

Nothing much happened except that I had a brawl with the policeman on one of the mornings. At the end of May, we had a bloggers Mommy night out. It was great to have some time off from the kids. That was not the end of it. After that, we’ve had 3 Mommies night out, of which I’ve attended 2.

    In June

Another travel month. We went to Penang. Celebrated Vyktore’s 4th birthday there as well. Got him a shark cake :) . I also remake the kids room, in hoping they would sleep in, but well…it’s a failed project, cause up till today, they only play in the room, or nap. No sleeping. It was school term break, kids had a Wild Wild West Party in school. And before the term break, school organised an outing to High 5 Bread Factory.

    In July

Daddy had an accident during his duty. We went for a trip to Taiwan. We’ve planned this since last year, finally had the courage to take some time off from work and get this done. Work will never finish anyway right :P .

    In August

That’s another travel month. 1st time travel with colleagues and the kids to Cameron Highlands.Didn’t even have a chance to blog about this O.o.

    In September

This month was a month of things happening in a whirlwind. My boss resigning. Lost a great friend, Lisa. Travelled to Vietnam for work. We rented out our Empire SOHO to a photographer from HK. Everything happened so fast.

    In October

2 more colleagues left. It was indeed a sad month. We went to Kuala Gandah to visit the Elephants. I also made a trip to Singapore for biz trip and visiting friends. Stayed at the newly built Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Oh, and finally make a trip to Broga Hills to recharge my braincells :P .

    In November

If you think things should slow down by now, HOLD YOUR BREATH!! It’s not gonna happen. More projects coming in. I made a trip to Palembang & Medan. Started my scrapbooking engine again, but only did 3 and now it’s waiting for what’s next…

    In December

It’s a month that just flew off so quickly. We spent 2 weeks in VN, clearing my leave, spending quality time with the kids & Mr. Hon. We went to Muine for a short breakaway, shall blog about it next year :P . My Indon maid also decided to runaway while we were still in VN. Now I’m living without a maid and trying my best to juggle with kids and the house. Faythe was on TV3, last tuesday, 28th Dec, for a segment recorded earlier. We are so proud of her. She appears so confident on screen. You can catch her recorded session in my FB.

2011 will pose a new challenge to our family. As there will be plenty of changes happening around us. Let us all usher the New Year with new hopes. May there be less disasters around the world.

    Good bye 2010.

Hereby leaving this final post of 2010 with a photo that was taken recently in Muine, Vietnam.

One for the family at last :) . Happy New Year everyone….

    Empire SOHO

We recently (not too recent actually) invested a SOHO unit in Empire, Subang. This is a brand new place, where there’s a shopping mall downstairs, Empire Gallery & SOHO units on top of it.

    View of the inside.

It took us a while to finally get the keys, then we hurried to look for agents to rent the unit out.

Finally last week, the agent that sold us the unit found us a tenant :) . The price we’ve got is pretty good.

Yay…it’ll be rent out from October onwards.

The tenant is a photographer based in HK :) .

We bought the unit facing Federal Highway. This the view that we all fell in love with.

Ceiling-floor window…love it!! If only I can turn this into a photography studio :P

    Off the runway…

If you have been following this blog since moons ago, I’m pretty sure you know that Mr. Hon is working in a high risk job.

Two months ago, while I was at work, he buzzed me online. “Accident!!”

First thing I thought, aiyo, another bike accident. Bike accidents are common in VN and he was involved in 1 sometime ago. Minor stuff. I’ve witnessed myself bike accidents in VN, it’s just like witnessing a kid falling from cycling.

Hence I didn’t answer him and continued discussing with my colleague.

Then he type a few more lines:

    * Plane went off the runway…
    * Tyre burst…

OK, that’s no joke. Then I started chatted with Mr. Hon to find out more details. Details aside.

Lucky thing that there were no casualties despite such drama. The person that was doing the landing was the Captain, Mr. Hon was assisting.

We thank GOD for watching over him. I’m glad that the one that buzz me online was him, and not his colleague in VN telling me something had happened to him.

Seriously, after married to him for so many years, it never really crossed my mind about such thing, lets just say I rather not think it would happen. Better to have +ve thoughts than -ve. But this incident is an eye opener to both of us.

Then few hours later at that very same week, he called and told me that his wallet got stolen. Kanasai, why so black-chai one. So he asked me to check for him for IC & Driving License Replacement. The rest he has settled from there.

Looks like he’s into a streak of bad luck. Chinese believes that when you are hit by bad luck, it comes in 3. So it’s already the 2nd, what’s next?

I actually told his friend who called me few minutes later informing me to cancel his phone line in KL that she needs to help perform the 3rd bad luck. Probably push him to fall down or something LOL.

Here’s a photo taken last year during Christmas. He flew us from KL to Vietnam. Our seats were upgraded to Business Class & the kids had a great time having such a huge seat all by themselves.

I drafted this post 2 months ago and finally I have the license to post this up since investigation is now complete and he’s back on the seat.

Mr. Hon, please take care of yourself when you are working. Promise me!!

    Bukit Tinggi: 17 April 2010

L-R: Vyktore, Jayden & Faythe posing for a photo. Each of them holding a Ironman Figurine.

Yet another travel post…gosh, when am I gonna finish with my travel post O.o. I think there’s like 3 more backdated travel post I’m gonna put.

So we finally made a trip to Bukit Tinggi, 1st time in my life, after seeing so many nice photos, many nice brochures, nice websites and what have you.

Reason is, Mr. Hon wants to take his bike for a ride and the only way he can do this is going for short trips. And while he rides, I will take our 4 wheels together with the kids & the GPS (in case we are lost). As usual, he don’t ride alone, his riding buddy came along. Since Lawrence & Jayden has nothing to do at home (Angie went for training), so they came along as well.

    Our breakfast….

But it’s a 1 day trip OK…no staying over night. We left KL around 830am and started heading towards the highway. Stopped over at Petronas by the highway for petrol & had McD for breakfast.

Daddy mentioned that we should go to waterfall on our way back. Vyktore, 1st time hearing waterfall, thinks it’s very syiok, so he said, “Mommy, I wah go waterfall”. OK…I bet he’d scream when he sees waterfall later LOL.

So we continued our journey after our breakfast and soon arrived at Bukit Tinggi.

1st stop, Rabbit Farm. I recall that we arrived before 10am, hence it was still not open. We were the 1st there.

The cranes that looked like statues to Vyktore :P

So while waiting for it to open, we chanced upon some cranes (I think) that was sitting on the grass over at the other side. Vyktore loves bird, he was so amazed at them. Then suddenly one of them started walking. Guess what Vyktore said….”Mommy, the bird can move…” LOL, sure can lah. They must have looked like statues to him earlier haha…funny boy. He even requested for some photos of him and the birds.

Vyktore taking photos with the cranes.

When the Rabbit Farm opens, we went in. Faythe was all excited when she was able to touch the rabbits. But Vyktore was screaming and refused to come along at first. But after convincing him, he finally came and join the fun. After patting the rabbit, he started to get comfortable and they all had great fun *torturing* the rabbit. Jayden at 1 stage was practically pulling the rabbit’s ears and lifting it up LOL. We were warned by the rabbit keeper to keep an eye on the 3 kids haha…memang pai seh.

Examining the donkey. Vyktore was scared of it.

After the rabbit farm, we went to see the donkeys…which looks so much like ponies. Faythe agreed to ride the donkey as that remembers her of Mulan. But Vyktore refused. Hence only Faythe rode the donkey and we took some photos, but towards the end, Vyktore wanted to get a feel of the donkey as well, so he sat at the back of Faythe.

    Oh so crowded French Village!!

Done with the rabbit farm, we head to the French Village. Actually I was pretty excited about the French Village as there would be alot opportunity to take photos. But Daddy was in such a hurry, we just scrambled at the French Village like 10minutes, then went down to see the black swans, fed them with cornflakes *oops* and left the place. Yup, that’s how fast we finish that entire place. Arghhh…I hate it when I have to rush around like this…next time I datang myself and cam* kow kow…

Why he’s in a rush leh?

Well, he was in Bentong few days ago and went to eat this Ikan masak Tempoyak. So he wanted to go there to eat again and he was worried that the shop will be closed when we reach there. Grrr…

Japanese Garden mini waterfall. Jayden trying to open his shirt :P .

So after French Village, we headed off to Japanese Garden, to look see look see and enjoy the greens. Boy, I really wonder if there’s really no where else to go in KL…Bukit Tinggi is so crowded!!! And it’s not even a long weekend…WTF!!

After Japanese Garden, we head to Bentong to eat Ikan masak Tempoyak. It’s about an hour drive from Bukit Tinggi..and I really hated that lunch.

Kids KO-ed in the car as they were so tired walking up the hill LOL. So we actually left them in the carĀ  (with the window open and within our view of course) while we had lunch except for Faythe that woke up and got down with us.

Yucks..I really can’t accept Durian in other forms…seriously, it tasted disgusting. No offence to those that love it, but I really beh tahan…not only me, even Lawrence & Yuen didn’t fancy that. So Daddy ate up the whole plate of Tempoyak Fish!! While we went crazy eating the stuffed green chilli with fish paste and don’t know what and some other dishes.

    Faythe enjoying her chocolate ice-cream

Then Seng Yuen told us that his hometown was actually Bentong, so he brought us to this shop to eat have some homemade ice cream..yum yum…

Jayden was still sleeping in the car when we arrived at the ice cream stall, so we brought the ice cream for Lawrence to eat while he babysits Jayden.

Vyktore nose-bleeding with Chocolate Ice Cream LOL…

We all each had our share of ice cream and ice kacang with ice cream. Both the kids had Chocolate Flavour, while I had Jagung Flavour. Daddy had Ice Kacang with Ice Cream as topping. Delicious!!

We left Bentong close to 2pm and started to head home, but we stopped on the way at Hutan Lipur Lintang to go to waterfall.

    Walking towards the waterfall

I tell you, Vyktore been pestering me since 9am till 3pm that he wants to go waterfall. But when we arrived and he saw what waterfall was, he refused to go join the fun LOL. Yeah, this his 2nd time experiencing waterfall. 1st time was like 2 yrs ago, I doubt he remembered.

Faythe building sand castle next at the waterfall.

Faythe couldn’t wait but just dive in together with Daddy. She’s been taking up swimming lessons for sometime, hence she’s very into swimming now.

Look at his ker lien face LOL

Vyktore refused to go in and even after I tricked him into putting his feet into the sand, he just wanted to sit on the rock and stare at all of us LOL. So I end up sitting next to him most of the time, and occasionally trying to coax him to come with me to another side of the waterfall where it’s very shallow and the current is slow.

Nope, MCA didn’t cheng us dinner, but so happened Daddy park his bike there.

We spent a good 1 hour at least at the waterfall, then we went to Bukit Tinggi Village to have very early dinner, at 530pm!!

On our way home, we were hit by the rain..poor Daddy, all drenched by the time he reached MIL’s house LOL.

Some photos taken for this trip. Plenty of photos ahead :P . Definitely didn’t enjoy the “rush-ness” of this trip.

    Faythe fooling with her pancake

    Who ate the pancake!!!

Faythe taking photos with Morning Glory. Notice her special baju, inspired by Winx Club O.o. MIL ordered it from her tailor and she has 3 sets. Faythe designed this herself and insisted the butterfly ribbon in front.

Have a nice weekend everyone…I’m taking my 2 kids for movies again this weekend ;) .

    Daddy turns 4-ZERO

My man turned 40 on 10th April. He’s been pestering me to check for roast pork price and he intend to celebrate it with style (he always have reasons to celebrate…actually he just enjoy the cutting pig thingy *seriously*).

But little did he know, I actually planned for a surprise party for him *smart wife rite*…AHEM.

I started the planning 3 weeks ago, while I was still in Jakarta. I requested Angie (close friend of ours) to help me check for dinner menu at Peranakan Place Restaurant in 1Utama.

Why this place when there are many other restaurants? Actually, this year is also our 7th year wedding anniversary, which falls on the same day as his birthday (our ROM). And this restaurant is where we 1st met 10 years ago, on our very first date. To make story short, I just arrange everything so coincidentally cause I’m really lack of time to source when I’m so far away LOL.

Once the menu was confirmed, I did a quick check on who are the people to invite. Good thing I have Yvonne’s (Bruno’s GF) MSN, so she could help me arrange the AirAsia side. Then I also sent a couple of private SMSes to his friends & my friends.

When I came back from Jakarta, I quickly went to the restaurant to confirm the no. of pax & paid the deposit.

I also made arrangement to sneak Whiskey to the dinner via Angie & Lawrence before he gets back from Vietnam.

Then I berpakat with MIL so tell him that she won’t be free on Saturday night for dinner. He actually wanted to have dinner with the family, then do the pig cutting thingy on Sunday @ Church.

On Saturday morning, he asked what are the plans for dinner? I pretended don’t know & asked him to ask MIL. He call MIL and asked her, obviously she also conned him into thinking she’s not free. He got pretty upset LOL.

Then he sent SMS to Bruno & Yvonne to ask them out for dinner, where he was turned down again. Bruno & Yvonne in charged on birthday cake.

LOL…very fun. I was actually trying very hard not to tell & pretend nothing is happening.

In the evening, he kept saying he wants to go downtown to eat Argentinian Food.

Seriously, I had a hard time trying to figure out how to trick him to go 1U. Usually he decides where to go for dinner, hence it’s very tough for me to convince him without any suspicion.

While I was bathing & preparing to go out, I suddenly thought of a brilliant plan :) .

After shower, he asked again, where shall we have dinner?

I told him, lets go watch Clash of Titans @ 1U. I’ve booked tickets for 9pm, at TGV. Gotta be TGV not GSC cause the Restaurant is nearer to old wing.

He agreed and promptly mentioned that maybe we should have dinner @ TGIF (I hinted to him earlier that we should eat here since they give free mudpie on your birthday).

So we packed the kids & headed to 1U.

When we arrived there (luckily was easy to get parking…must be my day lah :P ), I was busy sms-ing Yvonne to ensure the birthday cake arrives on time. The restaurant also called and signalled me that the guest has all arrived. Perfect timing :) .

While we were walking to TGV, I told him lets drop by at one of the restaurant, cause I want to pass something to my friend. He believed and followed me.

At the time when we arrived at the Restaurant, suddenly he saw Bruno standing in the Restaurant. Then he saw MIL.

And he went, “What the….You guys are all conman LOL”

He was so surprised that there were 20+ of them there to celebrate his 40th Birthday.

So the night went on with good food & good company.

Of course he thanked me for giving him a great party (though small scale lah). Now he knows what I’m capable of..conning LOL.

Next day, Lawrence & he ordered a roast pork to treat everyone in Church. Lawrence’s birthday is next weekend.

So everyone enjoyed the roast pork in church.

    Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Though he’s 40, I don’t see he has any wrinkles on his face at all O.o. Definitely do not need any wrinkle cream for now. If this the way he’s gonna age, I’m sure I’ll look older when I turn 40.
