Fall of the blinds Po-li-shee

Work
Mommy works in a place that the company calls it Top Secret. Sounds like some MIB agent office. Well, the staff here (including Mommy) always wonder, if so top secret, why are we located in an office building that everyone has access to? Might as well build an underground office in some secluded area where no one can see us right!!As you know, big companies always restructure, not sure for good, or just for show lah..one year you see this fella is your manager, next year he kiss goodbye and someone else comes. When we first moved to our new office (current office), it was all so pleasant..nice view of the damansara and kl (depends where you sit), no ground rules, toys all over the workstation, plants all over the table, we even have fighting fish and spend time feeding and playing with them (myself and my other colleague, Philip). Then came the chinaman, rule the world, R&R (not rest & relax, but rules& regulations).

First thing you see in the list, no more toys or whatsover bla bla bla..on your workstation. The po-li-shee is clean desk…the reason, gulppp…because we have a lot customers and this is a place to work, not a place where you display your toys!! OK lor…so all the toys went to the drawer and went home.

Then we have the security bla bla bla (god knows what, they all sound the same) po-li-shee..which says no fish water in any form (except drinking) is allowed. And the first thing, the chinaman rule all boss came to my workstation, Jazzmint, did you see email, pls remove your pet fish…argghh!!! Yes I saw that email, damn…the small pleasure and joy of watching fish swimming also you disallow..memang cursing alot that time. So myself donated the fish and tank to BIL (he’s a fan of fighting fish LOL) and Philip took his fish home and then died..poor fish!!

Next, the po-li-shee becomes more weird…the whole floor glass has to be tinted..in fear of 9/11 incident.. Wah liao eh, u think we are so famous people wanna take plane and bang us mehhh…bang oso go to twin towers lah..chiu…anyway, they went ahead and tint the glass…and the next damnest thing that happen was, we have to put the blinds ALL DOWN ALL THE TIME!! The fact that we already work in the dark (after tinting) is already bad enough, now we have the ALL BLINDS ALL DOWN ALL THE TIME po-li-shee…you better ask me go die lah.

Mommy hates darkness…Mommy loves the sun…Mommy hates to look out from the window and can’t tell if it’s raining or hazy or snowing or sunny…because with tinting you can’t tell the difference. Sien…at that very moment, I really feel like screaming at the big boss and tell him, what kinda stupid shit po-li-shee is this..and only our MIB department does all this nonsense thing. But never did lah, if I did, I won’t be writing this post today kakaka…

Last year about this time, restructure happen again..as usual lah…whoa…..it was good news, we got new boss. So the china-man boss seems to be reporting to the new boss..yay!!! The first time when I have 1-to-1 session with the new boss, call him, X, he ask me so what you think of the dept..and bla bla bla…..so I started bla bla bla and then I went to the clothes topic, telling him that guys shouldn’t need to wear tie cause it’s really ermm no purpose lahh…for what, you got big jobs to close isit…or you gonna meet PM kah…i told him, if you want ppl to work with you and your management and feel like family, we shouldn’t have so many R&R..it makes ppl feel unrest, it gives ppl the I cant do anything feel…and personally I hate it. I told that straight to his face, and yes indeed he agreed with me that he hates tie as well.

3-4 months later, after I beranak and came back, the first change that he did, was no tie po-li-shee…muahahaha..I was so glad, for my guy colleagues lah, not for me….All of them thank me LOL. Then I tell myself, hmm..this new boss is good…he listens, and he acts…he’s a very nice guy actually, very friendly, very sociable and leng chai too kakaka…of course not forgetting he also gave me increment…

Today marks another achievement or change that he did for the MIB dept…..and we all celebrated in the meeting room, I was the first one who clapped. After the hour long meeting with all the permanent employees, he announced that from today, we can raise the blind and see the sun…whoaaaa…..that feeling is like kena release from the jail for Mommy..kakakaka…at last, I can breath the fresh air, I can feel the sunlight shinning behind me and giving me warmth…I can look out and enjoy the view (ermm..not superbly nice but better than no view right)…so I quickly supported my dear boss and gave him a round applause..bravo to X…

After work today, he walk over to my workstation (he was having meeting at my floor) and say, “hey jazzmint, so you are very happy with the blinds off po-li-shee huh, you were the first who clap”…Alamak, that also he notice kahh…”yalorr..i love the sun mahh..and we got such nice view, it’s a waste if we draw the curtain most of the time”…As I stood up and look around the office, I could feel the freshness everyone is feeling…the brightness that we’ve been waiting for finally arrives…

I think with the removal of another sucking po-li-shee…the most important for me..as I just love working next to a window with sunlight…dunno why, siao siao one, now I feel more energetic for work…I think he just gave me a new working life :).

Some note for you, Mommy is crazy enough that sometimes when she goes to big parks…she will runaround on the grass and then sit there, lie down and write *big* word and enjoy the sun for couple of minutes kakaka…Daddy says Mommy is weird, the sun is so hot. But then again, this is nature, if you don’t enjoy it, you will miss it, especially when it’s haze…I’m sure everyone missed the good o’ SUN :).

  1. Wa, what dept you work in ah? So weird and so secretive.

Luckily for me, these 5yrs, my bosses are all based outside M’sia. Mou Wong Kun!!

But dress code for my floor still applicable to me. I don’t see anybody, but cannot wear sandals or t-shirt to work. CELAKA!

Sun is lovely but I will wear hat if I need to walk 10 minutes to protect my face from getting freckles. It’s popping out more after my first child.

  4. Hahaha…Chinamen bosses are like that lar.Rules, rules and rules..but in front of their wife like a rat. At least ur new boss is not a mole which live underground in the dark like that chinaman..hehe…

  5. How come our company from the same parents sound so different. Way to go for stand up to silly policy and making a change.

First of all, my company has no blinds except the meeting rooms. Nobody ever wear tie in my company, for safety reasons.

Only policy I don’t like is that raining during lunch time, my hubby cannot drive in to drop me. Only can pick up before and after office hours if rain. It was implemented after 9/11 too.

  6. allyfeel: hehe top secret mah..kenot tell one 😛

sabrina: yup agree with u…chinaman got lots of can do and can’t do

michelle: didn’t mention it’s my company, it’s the dept only.
