I’ve been contemplating if I should let Faythe play with water colour. She’s those type that loves to put stuff into her mouth. Daddy says that colouring should be left to MIL since MIL used to be art teacher. But for me, if wanna wait for MIL, it’s gonna take forever. She’s a super spanking clean lady which doesn’t like mess in her house. This means Faythe won’t have lots of fun.
I was reading this article last week, they suggest food colouring for kids. Ahahh…that’s something interesting. It’s definitely not poisonous and it’s edible LOL. So I went to this shop that sells all the bakery tools and bought a few bottles of colours (orange, blue, green, red). Each bottle cost about RM1.50.
During the weekend, I spread out a piece of paper for her, put on some colours on the palette and showed her how to paint. Being first timer, she mixed up the colours. So instead of red and blue, we had purple!! She enjoyed cleaning the brush in the jar of water more than painting.
And she being our *siu che* when she accidentally drip some paint on the floor, she request me to wipe. When she saw her hands all full of paint, she kept showing it to me ask me to wipe.
Shall have more of these fun painting session during the weekends.
Food Colouring..That’s a good idea!
That’s a wonderful idea, though little Rachel is too small for that, but I’ll keep that in mind….
Faythe like to see the clean water becoming dirty or is it that she only likes cleaning things up?? Did the colors, stick onto her hands in the end????
Splendid idea! But do the colours come off easily if she gets it all over her hands?
Interesting! Maybe I shall do that when Darrius starts to doodle… now he has started to hold stuff and rub them against the wall… is that a sign???
What a brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing.
ya hor..food coloring safe enuf for my lil girl! ok ok must go n buy..pronto!!
you are great…good idea, food colouring…I must get also..where did you get it?
hey, same with Champion. He loves to wipe off the paint from his hands… cannot touch his shirt. Then, loved to wash the brush after every single dip into the paint! *sigh*
Is food coloring easy to wash off if it gets on the baju?
Food colouring is good for kids who likes to put things into the mouth.
I use non-toxic (so even if she gets some into her mouth it’s still ok) washable paint from Crayola. Zara is very messy, if I used food colouring, we’ll have a tough time removing stains from all her splattering.
Emm..i think Faythe tends to be “siu che” maybe is because of your MIL since you said your MIL is a super spanking clean lady.
When my Jo first time playing colors, he played the water in jar more than colouring too.
Food colouring? That’s a good idea! I think I know how to occupied my boy’s time with these colouring on some cookies already.

Yes, you should let Faythe play with colours now. She is at this age where she really enjoys art. Harvynna can keep herself occupied by herself for at least 1/2 hour with her painting
