A friend of ours came to our house 1 day. Guess what. He went to open a bank account in CIMB. So they took his mykad to read the information. And it turns out that he don’t have AGAMA lol..so they couldn’t open an account for him.
I don’t really understand, what has AGAMA gotta do with open bank account? No agama can’t open one meh…even if got AGAMA, does that makes a different? You mean they actually check which AGAMA is richer and which is poorer LOL.
Anyway, he was quite frustrated lah. And I remember receiving this email on how to read MyKad information via the Astro Decoder. I went to dig out my email.
Yes…how to do it?
Notice, this only works with new astro decoder. Those like ancient years one doesn’t work eh.
- On your Astro
- Tune to channel 800
- Select the last option, read mykad or something like that
- Then put in your mykad base on the instruction given. Slot is 2nd slot, not 1st slot (1st slot is Astro Card)
- tuut tuut tuut..information displayed (like the above)
Fun hoh…I instantly went to check my own MyKad, Daddy’s one as well. Just to make sure it’s correct, if not gotta go and change. So our poor friend, gotta go to JPN and get it fixed.
But guess what….I slot in both the MyKid card, it can’t read leh….hmm…is it the chip spoil? Or is the chip fake (just for show haha)? Now go and test it out and tell me if your MyKid works or not.
I have done that. Just can’t believe the bank account part cause I just change my to NO RELIGION and it the same for my husband & Claudia. If it happen to me, the bank will have a earful from me & more from Mr.Wallace.
Wow…if no agama means a lot of problem for your friend. I’ve read abt this somewhere in the papers. A long process to get a new card, i think. Hope they don’t give him trouble as religion is such a sensitive issue ;D
OKAY Boycott CIMB bank… heheheheheh… I can be a non religion man and its my right what. If I dont practice any religion so u deprive me of all my rights to open a bank accounts? absolutely ridiculous.
Anyway, all of you should check the digital information of you MyKad cos like mine and my parents one, they were ALL WRONG. Luckily it was as bad as putting you as Islam for religion but they did put us as SIKHISM as religion! So immediately went to JPN and got it changed at no cost at all.
Any pictures of the *new* decoder? I consider mine new but cannot be sure.
I tried that before and if I recal correctly credit card chips are readable too 😛
I wonder why CIMB so stubborn or is that just the staff misinterpreting the instruction?

Aiks..me also no religion wor, but no problem opening account with any banker :S.
Remember once I was in Tigerhead Bank they capture my ID and saw the religion part written ‘maklumat khas’ then I told them that I was Mission 007 lol…
I had done it b4 when the astro just launch, it work. i think you place the mykad upside down, you go try again.
