Melbourne: Day 7, 8 : Vietnam: Day 3

Travelogue

Day 7 is the last day in Melbourne, we will fly back to Vietnam tomorrow morning. Since we didn’t do much shopping for this trip, we saved all the shopping for Day 7. We left Peter’s house @ 8am. Good thing his place is not too far to Victoria Market. Driving in town is seriously…crazy!! With all that hook turns and tram lines, gosh…I got so stressed up. I was so so glad that we finally arrived at Victoria Market and park the car.

So we went rounding and rounding the Vic Market and look for good bargains, before we buy our stuff. Then we had light breakfast there (Bratwurst Sausage again!!). We were supposed to meet up with another of Daddy’s friend for lunch, don’t know what street. So we took a walk there from Vic Market. I’m glad we opt for a walk instead of drive, as I get to see the city closer and take more photos.

We passed many many bike shops (Daddy’s fav stop). So while waiting for him to look at bikes I’d stand outside the shop and snap photos LOL.

We had lunch in Chinatown…their Chinatown is very much like Petaling Street, but looks better and of course no stalls like what we have here. After lunch, we took the same way back to Vic Market, again stopping at Bike shops (arghhh….). I think we spent almost 3 hours there, until finally Daddy decided to get a pair of bikers jeans (those with knee protection).

Then we went to drop the rented car off, but left all our loots there to pick up later. We walked across to Crowns Casino. I love this place, not the Casino, I mean the scenery haha…It’s right beside the ever-so-clean Yarra River!! You can also see all the office buildings sprouting out by the river bank. We were both very happy taking photos for each other there as well as some couple shots.

Then we walked back to the car rental shop, where Peter picked us up and we went dinner with his family & Jonathan. Some Chinese Restaurant. I think we had crab. Can’t remember, too busy eating, didn’t even snap photos haha.

At night, we spent sometime playing foosball @ Peter’s house. I’ve already packed all the bags the night before, so it was pretty relaxing. Then we took a drive to send Jonathan back to his place and went to the town to get some night shots. Wow…it was so stunning to be @ Crowns Casino at night. There’s this fire that goes huffing & puffing every few minutes. Then on the other side of the river are the tall buildings, lit with multi colour lights. Love the sight.

We also drop by the Shrine, aiya..regret should have came here in the afternoon instead of go to bike shop. From the Shrine, you get a very good view of the whole city. Didn’t take any shot from here cause I didn’t bring the tripod.

Next Day, we have an early flight back to Vietnam. Both of us got upgraded to Business Class this round as the flight was so so full!!

Flying back business class during day time, we were stuffed to the brim with cheese, wine, steak and lots of other food. I didn’t eat much though, was trying to catch some sleep. But Daddy had his fair share of food.

We arrived in Vietnam 3pm, went back and dump the luggage, unpack everything, sorted out and pack again (for KL). Crazy right…

Then we went out for dinner with another group of friends whom just arrived from KL for Vietnam Holidays. We went to the usual place, Ngon…I’ll talk bout this place next time, when I have a chance to take more photos of this Restaurant.

The next day, I did some Vietnam shopping before heading home alone. I’m really glad that the flight was only half full, I got 3 seats all by myself!!

If you are coming back from Vietnam at night, you must sit on the left side of the plane!! Why, cause you’ll get to see KL @ Night….It’s beautiful. I took so many shots, but only 1 shot turn out not so blur…the rest all gone into the Recycle Bin.

PHOTOS TAKEN IN VICTORIA MARKET & REST OF THE TRIP HERE.

So that’s all for Melbourne & Short Vietnam Trip.

This is no doubt a memorable trip for us. Furthest we’ve been so far.

There shall not be anymore overseas travelling for this year, at least until mid of 2009. Time to recuperate and plan for next trip :). But I’m still travelling within Malaysia on and off every few months.

  1. I tell you, it is better to go in winter as spring and autumn can be very rainy!
Looking all your pics made me miss OZ so much! Must plan a holiday there soon! hehe

  2. fr the plane you also managed to take KL skyline? But can’t really make out it’s KL.
The Southbank (that’s what it’s called right where the casino is), is indeed lovely. I remember they have some really lovely restaurants along too.. it’s good for me the last time as I managed to eat in one.. company expense ma.. 😛
