Langkawi – The Mahsuri Island

Travelogue

We went for a 3D2N trip (Daddy, Faythe & Mommy + 2 friends) to Langkawi on 30th November. It was a last minute trip, so prior to going there, packing was so last minute. We were all supposed to be there on Wednesday and return on Friday, but due to some miscommunication, Mommy ended up booking the resort on 29th instead and coming back on the 1st. After clearing out, we settled for 29th Nov (2 friends to check in earlier) and we will be there on 30th instead and coming back on Friday. Because of such arrangement, Mommy had to travel alone to KLIA to meet up with Daddy (he flew back from KK the morning we leave for Langkawi). Also due to this, we try to pack as many things as possible to pass to our 2 friends so that they can carry it over for us first, since I have to struggle with Faythe from KL to the airport.

30th Nov
We left on 30th November at 8am from home. Mommy driving, Faythe in the car seat. She looks pretty blur and sleepy still. Then we board the 9am ERL from Sentral to KLIA. On the way, in the ERL, at first Faythe was pretty OK. Tried to distract her by asking her to look out, but towards the end of the journey she was getting restless..probably due to lack of sleep. Forced to sit on the stroller, we arrived in KLIA about 930am, Daddy already at the counter getting the tickets. I was relieved when saw Daddy. At least I can check-in the bag and we just have Faythe to handle.
The flight was delayed as there was some problem from Kuching, so we waiting like up till 1130 before we board the plane. As usual, the little monkey refuse to sit still..so we gotta keep on walking and pushing the stroller, we even resort to putting her into the airport trolley!!!

Even while we were on board, waiting for the plane to take off..she was so restless…Mommy was worried how is that 1hour flight gonna end up like!! But surprisingly, once we took off..while she was looking out of the window, she just doze off. Maybe the pressure did it’s fair part :P. When we landed, she woke up hahaha…

Met up with the 2 friends and rented a MPV to go around easier. It was raining cats & dogs…aiyoo…I was keeping my fingers crossed it won’t be raining everyday, or else we won’t be able to go up the cable car. So in the afternoon, we went to the newly renovated Underwater World. Now this time it sure looks better than the before-renovated Underwater World. We were lucky when we arrive there it was feeding time for penguins, so all of us get to watch…pretty amazing, they don’t even chew their food, just swallow kekeke…Faythe of course was amazed with all the fish and other animals…but got terrified when she saw a giant garoupa :P. Daddy of course is the bad guy, we dip Faythe’s feet into the koi pond, one of the koi came and nibbled her toes…she screamed so loud kekeke…

Later we went back to the resort to shower and quick nap. Went to Kuah Town to have dinner. We stayed very near the airport, so the drive to Kuah was pretty far & long. Faythe slept throughout. It was raining even heavier at night…..*kong foong pou yue*. We had dinner at Weng Fung (can’t remember exact name) Restaurant, good food and cheap :). Bought some chips, chocolates & liquor. Headed home to watch DVD since it’s raining. Our friends brought their DVD Player along..cool huh!!!

1st Dec
At last it’s not raining, but cloudy though. But the weather was good enough for us to go for Cable Car ride in Oriental Village. We went there around 10am+, wanted to have breakfast there, but most of the shops were closed!!! Forced to eat instant noodles aiyoo…There were a lot people at Oriental Village.

Nothing really special about this place except that they’ve got this huge plant/fruit which I don’t know what’s that. Damn huge, wonder can be consume or not. So we took the ride up to Gunung Mat Cincang, that’s where the base station of the Cable Car in Langkawi. The scene was splendid, we could see one part of Langkawi. Absolutely beautiful. At first Faythe was pretty busybody, turning left and right. By the time we arrived at the suspended bridge, she fell asleep while we were enjoying the fresh air. What a waste lah this baby!!!

Since the weather was still good, we headed to Telaga Tujuh cause Daddy’s fren insist to go waterfall. Going up Telaga Tujuh takes 20minutes, but to the water fall only 10minutes. We decided not to go Telaga Tujuh cause it wasn’t so covenient to climb up with a baby and stroller. Moreover, we had enough walk at the Cable Car station itself. Even going up hill to the waterfall was an uphill task. I think the hill was like 45 to 60 degrees slant…whoaaa…pushing the stroller is like pushing a trolley full of stones!!! At last we arrived at the waterfall. Of course everyone had great fun. Daddy’s 2 frens went ahead to the waterfall after changing.

Daddy took Faythe to the shallow part where she could play with the water and crawl around!! Yah, she was crawling around the waterfall, she even attempt to climb up the rock where I was sitting at taking photos. We spent like close to an hour there. Though the water was cold, Faythe didn’t show sign of chillness..just pure enjoyment. In the end we got to move from there.

Next we headed to Pantai Pasir Tengkorak. Supposingly the best beach (as recommended by locals), but when we arrived there…a bit sad looking lehh…..The sand wasn’t sandy. And not that beautiful also…We didn’t swim there, just sit on a tree branch took some pics (as proof that we went to beach LOL) and cabut. By that time, it’s about 4pm. We headed back to the resort, took a nap and rest.

Dinner time, we went to USSR restaurant. We saw a lot of signs to this restaurant while on the way to Oriental Village in the morning. So thought wanna give it a try. It’s at this place call Telaga Harbour Park, a new Marina built, don’t remember seeing this harbour 3 years ago when I was in Langkawi. Along the restaurant, there are many other restaurants like steamboat, italian, a pub and some other shops. The food was good, Daddy’s fish with cheese was yummy. Mommy had Beef (sliced like sukiyaki) cooked with some cheese and grated almonds. Spicy though, I prefer the fish. We ordered a banana split for Faythe hehehehe…The salad was good too…Daddy says next time when we come back, for sure will dine in this restaurant again :).

After dinner, Daddy’s fren went to cybercafe at around the corner, while we went to the pub to listen to live band. By 11pm+, everyone was so tired, we head back to resort to find chau kung :P.

2nd Dec
We were all sleeping on the bed…suddenly Daddy said, “haiya..how come didn’t call X, she’s in Langkawi leh”. Oohh…now only he remember-lah, when we are supposed to pack and go back. So he buzz X over the phone, so happen she’s off on Friday. So we quickly pack, check out of hotel and she came over. We all hop on to the Serena and headed for breakfast.

Wanted to go Breakfast Bar @ Pantai Cenang (recommended by PP), but X recommended Red Tomato, which is just down the road. So we went there ordered our breakfast. All of them had Garden Breakfast, Mommy Ordered Oli’s Special. I love the food there. Yummy and so filling. The bread is home made too, Faythe had her fair share of course. The place is very cozy as well. We hang around there till 1pm+. Took some photos of Faythe by the beach playing with sand. She didn’t like the idea of being on the sand though.

Then we went to the Duty Free shop next to Underwater World for some last minute shopping. We still have 1.5 hours to kill. X suggested we take a drive to Gunung Raya. We didn’t manage to go up cause half way, at the guardhouse going up to Gunung Raya, found that the car needs petrol. So we didn’t take the risk. Aiyo wasted liao…So turn back and went to pump petrol and back to the resort. X left her car there, so we drop her off. Faythe and Mommy was asleep in the car LOL. We headed to airport after that. We manage to get tickets for ourselves, concession fair, must always buy 1 hour before flight. Of course it’s so cheap, our whole family only paid RM140 per way from Langkawi to KL. Included airport tax!!! But flight was delayed for 2 hours, we were notified since Daddy had contacts. And so happen, Marc was flying the plane.

After the much anticipated flight took off at 7pm, we finally arrived in KLIA at 8pm. Check-out everything, got the baggage but we couldn’t make it to catch the 9pm train. So waited for 1/2 hour more for the train. Daddy’s fren took cab instead, so again some luggage went to them. Arrived in KL Sentral about 10pm and drove back. By the time we arrived at home, Faythe was already asleep in the carseat. I can see that she’s so so tired…But enjoyed herself must be :).

There goes the first family trip without the maid. It wasn’t that bad, though it’s a bit pitiful cause Faythe didn’t get to catch much of her sleep. So now she’s catching up with that. She took 3 hours nap in the morning…record breaking for her!!

More pics will be loaded in Faythe’s Mugshot next week. It’s back to work again, for 3 weeks, then Mommy got 10 days off. Maybe another trip?? To where lehh this time….
