Zhuhai 2 Days

Travelogue

We arrived @ Zhuhai on 31st Dec 06. The eve of New Year. Supposingly celebrate New Year in Zhuhai, but things didn’t turn well.

It was already 3pm+ when we arrived at Zhuhai after checking in, we rushed to make sure we change some RMB and all the banks were open, but they don’t accept Euro (smack head). In the end we went to Gong Bei (one shopping complex near the checkpoint to Macau) and managed to get the money changed. After that we went to have our very late lunch. Food wasn’t tasty but no choice.

Next we went to New Yuan Ming Palace. Apparently, this is the exact model of the actual Yuan Ming Palace in China. Daddy has been here before, but during daytime. So this time round we will stay till late night and see the performance. Apparently, if you enter after 6pm, you only need to pay 1/2 the entry fee..cool eh…

This place is very huge, it has a lake of itself too. It has all the different different mini palace, which houses different things, i.e. the dining room, the concubine’s palace, etc. It was getting dark though it’s only 6+, so we scurried to take as many photos as possible because night photography will be tough (we didn’t bring our tripod :().

We got to know that 8pm, there will be a performance at the stage, which we gotta climb some steps. On our way there, there’s this stall in one of the room which writes poem based on your name. As usual, our kids are the priority. So we gave the man both our kids chinese name and they wrote a poem. The very malu thing was I wasn’t sure about Faythe’s name, I actually called back KL to ask my sifu LOL.

When it’s dark, the lights are on and the palace is very beautiful. Picture taken by Daddy, my camera’s night shot didn’t really look good. We made in on time to watch the performance. It was some dunno what Dynasty, taken over China. And the show was about the wealth and prosperity of that Dynasty. Lots of dance, dance after dance.

And there were also market place, where 2 fellas tied to the wire and flying around…wahh…very well co-ordinated. It even comes with narration. All the dances took 1 hour to finish, and then everyone proceed to the lake where they staged the Opium War. We didn’t get a good spot for the lake as there were just so many ppl :(. Only manage to take a few shots..I honestly prefer the lake performance. But my tummy started acting up. I began to feel nausea :(.

We went back to hotel, and I took some rest. Daddy went to buy food back. I didn’t feel well all the time, and after taking some food, threw up…yucks…and that was how we celebrated the New Year…eww…

The next day, I still didn’t feel well, and threw up again…we suspect must be the lunch in Zhuhai that cause the problem, we ate different food, so only myself felt it. Food poisoning!!! Luckily Daddy has all the medicine in hand, quickly took the medicine and went to bed. Daddy went out shopping whilst I rested in the hotel.

Took the medicine twice, by 3pm, I was feeling better, at least can eat and no more throwing up, but still feel giddy. Only at night, I felt better and could walk abit. So we went to the Gong Bei area and shop around (very last minute shopping). And had some drinks at the pub by the roadside.

Didn’t do much in Zhuhai since the food poisoning episode, but there are really a lot of stuff to buy, especially those Monogram fake goods. Daddy bought 2 coach purse for colleague, that’s only Rm20/purse!! I didn’t get any, cause I don’t like monogram, looks ugly to me LOL. Well, I didn’t go back empty handed, I bought some facial products to use hehe..and I’m quite satisfied with the hydrating mask.

We left for Macau the next morning, catching the earliest flight back to KL. So tired and still don’t feel good, I’m so glad to be home and off the flight.

Will post about our loots from our trip in the next post.
