Lion dance fetish

Motherhood Scrapbooking

Anyone has lion dance fetish like ME? Yes, ME, the mommy, not the kids. I’m so crazy over lion dance. I don’t know why, but I just love watching them. Which is why I love Chinese New Year cause I get to see lion dance all over the place. If I happen to pass by a house with lion dance, I’d actually stop and look. Wait till they finish LOL.

So this year how many times Lion Dance I saw? Twice only :(. Once was one of my neighbour. They have lion dance going to their house every year as I saw it there as well last year. And the team of lion dance is from GSC. Hmm…maybe they are owners of GSC hahaha…

And another one was during Chap Goh Mei. MCA Segambut, as usual organised Chap Goh Mei event. Organiser, as usual, Daddy. We did the event in TTDI Park this year as opposed to Kepong last year. The crowd was not as huge as Kepong, but it was fun. And again we have Lion Dance. This is the same one that we call every year and they do almost the same stuff every year LOL. But I never get bored haha…..

I manage to take some pics with my DSLR. I must say that even with DSLR, it’s not easy to capture night shots with a moving lion.

Everyone got very excited. You know why? Cause this lion climbed up the bamboo pole. Then from top it dance a bit. Then it start to throw money out (the last pic). Yah!!! RM1 notes, flying all over the sky haha…

Of course when everyone sees money flying in the air, they rush to the bottom of the lion, jumping up and down, catching the notes hahaha…..

Maybe I also influence my kids, they too love Lion Dance. But Vyktore dare not touch the Lion. Faythe will touch it if she sees other kids touch it.

The pics below, see my kids are wrapped in towel. This the result of obsessed-Mommy want to watch lion dance LOL…They were actually playing in their pool on Chap Goh Mei morning when the GSC Lion Dance came to our neighbour house. I wanted to go see. So I quickly grab the kids, wrap them in towel and scoot them along with me and my maid. Standing by the roadside watching Lion Dance haha…It was the first time Vyktore got so close to seeing the lion, he was so amazed. Staring at the lion for so long.

  1. I LOVE LION DANCES TOOOO!!!!!! Last time i use to go back to my grandparents kampung, and they have lion dances door to door. I will either piggy back on my cousins’ bicycle or ride a bicycle myself and follow the lions round the kampung. My parents will have to follw the sounds of the lions to find me.

  2. Wah…. can’t imagine mummy is the one who addict… haha! I also addict to chinese kung fu… it’s called wushu. And in fact since I left national team, I hardly can see any wushu performance nowadays.

  3. OO, i like also… Though I’ve always been afraid to go near when I was a kid, but now, if I don’t see lion dance, it’s just not CNY… u know wat i mean??

  4. Darrius loves lion dance too! Everytime we asked him ‘lion leh?’ he will automatically put both his hands into the drum beating motion like those seen at lion dance show.

  5. Ha! So sexy ah…
My kids too, occupying my PC to watch the clips over and over again…My neighbour had them during CNY. I think next year I’ll brainwash MIL to have one at home too…

  6. We also love lion dance and was expecting so much to at least get to see one.. unfortunately, none came to our neighbourhood 🙁

    Hope to hear from you..

  8. I like Lion dance too, was trying to suggest a lion dance in our home here but got rejected by hubby. I can’t understand why he doesn’t want. Anyway, I grew up in a home where calling lion dance to house is a yearly event. It’s like a MUST. 😉

  9. Give me five, I love lion dance too! Absolutely love it.

I still remember when I was kid, I used to follow the lion dance from house to house back then in Kepong.
