I was rearranging my study room some weeks ago to cater for a new toy for the family. Yes rearrange as in the whole room gotta clear up!!! When I started clearing my stuff, I heard some noises…I thought wah…why so scary one. Then I saw 3 pieces of the parquet floor like already *mereput*. Yikes!! what happened….I continued to check, then as I took out my paper boxes, I found a big patch of parquet floor, got eaten by termites!! OMG…my heart almost fell off when I saw it, cause it was so disgusting lah..I saw some of the termites (white ants).
Quickly ask Daddy what to do…he say clean up first woh. So I used the scr*w driver and hammer and knock off all those parquet that is already eaten up, then vacuum all of them clean clean…
As I move the things around, I found even more…aiyo..now my whole study room is like bits n pieces of every corner is bitten by termites arghh….
I’ve bought the anti-termite treatment, since it’s just a small case (fingers crossed), I terminated them haha…hopefully this won’t happen.
And what is the culprit. The dar* IKEA Paper boxes!! Yes, bloggers, pls don’t ever ever ever keep these boxes especially on the floor caue when you wipe the floor, sometimes it gets wet. Damp paper items, the best place for them to breed and they start their *work* from there. I threw away all the boxes now changed to plastic ones..sigh…I feel so sakit hati see my floor, I told Daddy, when got money change the parquet to tiles LOL..Daddy say I chi sin haha
I will bulu naik when see the “works” of termites…..geli geli…

ALAMAK !!! I think you’d better call in the exterminators. Who knows where it will go next, cause I’m sure your whole upstairs flooring is parquet righte?

But hor, BU area very teruk with termites…my downstairs dorr frame also kena like hell, now like hollow edi. Luckily the termited dont migrate upstairs…
I overcome the same problem last year but not as serious as yours. Now, I never put boxes directly on floor. Lesson learned.
You didn’t engage a pest control services? I think it is a must if you have a parquet floor.
must have to slowly change to floor tiles lei … then u dun hv to worry anymore …

Before I move in to my house, I get ride of all parquet. Spend a little bit of money to get rid of future problems. By the way, maybe you should ask the pest control man to treat your house.
Very true, that’s what Rentokil my pest controller advised me, never ever put paper boxes in the house. If you’ve got no choice, then put a few inches away from the sides of the wall. So gross hor, eeewweee…
so geli…better check other place too cause scare it go to other place.
Yeah… better get the pest ctrl ppl to come in for inspection. If u don’t get rid of ALL the termites, they can still breed n spread. Maybe u need to sacrifice more pcs of parquets than wat u’ve dug out. Hope the other rooms r not affected.
very geli….i think your idea to change to tiles are good idea…
errr… you better ask a expert to climb up the roof and check if the termite attack the roof. Go and learn how the termite community works and the next time when you see them, you will leave them at it is and won’t use a screw driver to korek the parquet and use a vacumn cleaner to suck. The more you agitate them, they will just run further and hide. Even if you spray Ridsect at them, some may die but some will quickly run away. Errr.. good luck to you.
