Hush…my children

Faythe Scrapbooking Vyktore

When I 1st gave birth to Vyktore, my 1st nightmare was after confinement month, where I have to put both my children to sleep. As both of them is just 1.5 yrs apart, they still sleep with us, with a different timetable all together.

Faythe: naps twice a day, 11am & 3pm
Vyktore: naps after every feed
Me: naps anytime…I’m like so sleepy all the time due to BF at night and Vyktore is an early bird. He wakes very early to do his big biz…sigh…

I tried very hard to put both of them to sleep together, but it was tough. My plan was:

  1. put Vyktore to sleep first
  2. then comes Faythe

My problem with this plan is Vyktore is a light sleeper, so each time Faythe is in the room talking…he wakes up…sigh..very frust :(.

I’d love to put Faythe outside and sleep later when Vyktore is already in deep sleep, but she wants to come in. So I can’t leave her out.

Vyktore also doesn’t sleep by himself, unlike Faythe whom sleeps by herself from 2 months up to 1+.

So I have no choice but stick to this plan and continually put them to sleep in this sequence, at the same time trying to tell Faythe to lower her voice in the room.

When they grew older, the sleeping time got tougher. Faythe wants her bedtime story….Vyktore on the other hand, is all so busy rolling about and he kicks a lot of fuss right before he sleeps. That’s how the bedtime gets extended further.

Now, bedtime is even longer than before :|….cause both wants to read, at least 2 books…then Faythe likes story after the 2 books, whilst Vyktore will be rolling around in the dark. But even before I finish telling the story, I’m just yawning away and try to finish my story fast. Sometimes, it takes up to 2 hours to put them to sleep. By then it’s already late, no more energy. But sometimes I manage to get up later and watch both of them…piling up sleeping on each other. That king size bed is just not enough!!

But nap time is very easy now that both of them only naps once a day. So weekend, we have a sleeping afternoon usually. After our lunch, all 3 of us go upstairs and have quality nap time for at least 2 hours.

  1. I can imagine just how difficult it is to tuck 2 kids to bed. My 2 kids go to sleep in 2 rooms and it is already tough, sommo yours is in the same bed. But eventually i want 2 of them sleeping together, just waiting for Dy to be much bigger first.

  2. Putting my kids to sleep is a nightmare to me. and reading your post makes me “worry” even more as to when i can have a stressfree bedtime with my kids.

  3. Tell me about it man. I’m usually the one yawning away at nights and the kids will be so semangat, even now at nights. Dunno when I can move them into their own room :S

  4. aiyor, tension me man, wanna make my dotter sleep. she will toss & turn, climb up & down till she gets tired… let her watch Hi5, let her jump jump then she sleeps… O.o

  5. Hey….I got the same dilema with my two boys until I have to separate both of them in different rooms. Not until recently that I put both of them together again. My two boys are 1yr 3mths apart. So totally understand what you mean.

  6. I lurve watching babies sleep and I’ll spend minutes looking at Aiden when he’s peacefully asleep.
My heart goes out to you when you say you need 2 hours to put them to bed (!!) I spend 20 mins and I’m already complaining..
My weekend afternoon is the same – after lunch, bring the baby up for an afternoon nap together gether !

  7. your story sound very familiar to me….sometimes i read fast fast the story book but kena warning ler….say me cincai wor… 🙁

  8. I used to speed read to my girls when I dead tired..but now, daddy helps to tuck them in with his bed-time story telling so mommy can BLOG! gagag

  9. You’re making me VERY SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!! As it is, it takes me 1hr just to put Bryan to sleep at night. As for naps, he only naps when we’re out 🙁

  10. I’ve been wondering how to take care of 2 kids.. even just 1 is already so difficult during bedtime! I let Sean play until he has enough and ask for his “nee-nee”. It’s usually quite late, but this way it’s not that tiring.

    I think I’ll wait before trying for no.2!!!! =P

  11. I know wat u mean. Now I take 1 – 1.5 hrs to make them sleep. If I hadn’t taken nap during the day, I’d definitely fall asleep in the process.

  12. ya not easy to put 2 to sleep at the same time, dats y b4 samuel turn 3 we decided to let him sleep alone on his own room, thank God hes ok unless if its heavy rain or thunder, maybe its time for u to put faythe to sleep in her room

  13. i do the same too in the weekends with my kids … just too sleepy! When the light is off darien knocks off pretty fast but denisha will be starting in the darkness .. millions of things going thru her mind and she be chatting away to me telling me what happened in school. Most of the time she’ll put me to sleep and i would have to tell her to continue tomorrow and sleep. girls are real chatterbox. 🙂

  14. My girl won’t sleep if we don’t, unless she really tires herself out. Sigh! Envy your weekend nap routine. Getting her to nap one hour also difficult.
