Living In Fear

Et Cetera Household

backdated post, this happened on Tuesday night, 6th May.

We left the house about 8pm+. Wanted to catch a movie at 9pm. At the same time if there’s time, look for laptop at the Curve. We were stucked in the jam at Sunway Damansara that we were too late to catch a movie. So we spent some time crazily running around all the shops looking at laptops before they close :P…Daddy and his usual leave at 8pm to go do 1001 things.

So we went home at 10pm+ when all the shops start to settle down. Happily driving home and chit chat.

As soon as we turn in, we saw a police car, smack right in front of my neighbour’s house :|. This is my left hand side Chinese neighbour. The other side is a Malay couple with a lil girl. This one is 2 brothers living in the house.

We wind down our window and asked the police sitting in the car…

Kena masuk pencuri – that’s what the police told us

Wah liao…..my heart nearly sank when I heard that. And Daddy was like, eh, maybe pencuri still hiding OR maybe pencuri climb over our place. So we quickly went into the house and he took a parang (not a very smart move if the pencuri is still around) and checked every nook of the house. Then he declared safe for all of us to go in.

Our neighbour told us nothing much went missing, except the TV and some watches. They broke in via the sliding door. I could see the lock were damaged. But funny thing is the grille to the sliding door, that lock is all intact :|. I’m still puzzled over how they got in if the grille’s lock is all in tact.

They left the scene pretty neat as well. I imagine, they open up the autogate, move the TV out, then close it back. Then close the sliding door, leave everything nicely, then climb out from the fence. Yikes!!

And we were told, that day itself, there were 3 cases of robbery/theft/house break in in the same area. We are paying 400 a year to get some security to watch over our house, and yet this is happening…sigh…

I woke up 4am this morning with cold sweat. I had a bad dream. I dreamt that my house got broke in :|. The thief actually came from the roof. But I heard sounds, so I took the golf club, ready to whack him…then I kena whack….by my son and I woke up LOL….

I told Daddy, I can’t sleep. I’m worried….sigh….it could have been us as well, cause we were not at home that time. But probably he chose the neighbour’s house cause it was better renovated compared to ours.

Go out, we worry bout kids being kidnap……

Go out, we worry bout car being hit & robbed…….

At home, we worry about being robbed……

At home, we can’t even sleep in peace…..

Sigh, what is this country coming to. Now how I wish I stay in a gated community, at least the likelihood for this to happen is less.

  1. come stay near me!! hehehe!!
anyway, fyi, burglars have great tools to unlock ur pad lock and lock it back to amuse you. even branded padlocks like SOLEX wont help! NO! am not a robber! i just got info from someone long time ago on how burglars work!
so u probably wanna use many many padlocks and chains, etc so when burglars see these locks, they might wanna change mind coz it will take more time unlocking so many padlocks!

  2. Wah lau! Paid 400 bucks and still have robbery…Must complain liao! Eh, your hub very hero la..went in with parang…and yea, quite a stoopid hero…hahahaha..

  3. Aiyoo..got security also kena broken into ahh…that’s scary. I’m more scared than you since we are not gated as well. My neighbour’s house also got broken into just a few weeks ago, and they did it in a broad daylight lehhh….yikesss!! Now the neighbour is too scared to stay there anymore (rented house) and move to Kota Kemuning gated community liaoo last week.

Haiii…really scary when come to think of it, just me and the kids at home on weekdays. I don’t even dare to bring my kids to the nearby playground or go out for a walk myself.l

  4. Ugh… when something like this happens so close to home of course terrible la, moreover Mr Hon’s not around most of the time :S Last time my car stolen right in front of my house also same lo, those guards are useless wan la. Dunno why hubs still pays the residential association.

  5. it is scary to hear about this around especially a neighbor that is next to your own home. hope your neighborhood will have better securities guards after these incidents.

  6. my parents hse in melaka got broken into last month, sigh. and my mom called me the next day morning to tell me, we shoot back on the day itself. few days back our neighbour kena… damn!

the whole house was like kena tornado, can’t see the floors, can oni see the things. sigh, at nite, we can’t sleep, my mom gets up to the slightest sound, she dont even wanna leave the house ever since.

now, we have installed alarm system, so she is ok abit, but still phobia.

and yes, nowadays, we need to worry so much on everything, mana lar tak stress! o.O

  7. Wooeee, dat was quite a scare. Wow, paying RM400 for ‘security’ and still having to be living in fear, should go and ‘gazak’ the company lor.

I’ve heard of many of my frens’ houses being broken into and even my SIL’s and brother’s houses were both broken into not once but twice and luckily no one was at home.

I don’t mean it’s safe staying in an apartment but compared to landed properties, I prefer living in an apartment (cross fingers and toes) where at least there are guards (self-console). Living in landed property, I always dread the idea of coming back home esp at nite having to watch out and around before opening the gate, so at least I live in an apartment, I feel safe after passing thru the guard house (keeping fingers and toes crossed again).

  8. That house that got broke in got alarm system or not? How come the alarm diden ring?

Actually great pad locks don help, coz they can just saw thru the grills. Make sure have min house alarm, at least can frighten them off when the alarm go off.

And my aunt always tell me, better to have a plain looking house front. Don’t show off that u are rich so that u are less of a target.

Luckily no one is harmed in the burglary. MOnetary loss can be replaced….

  9. That’s really scary! Eh, I thot u got alarm in the hse? I oso hv this phobia of thieves rushing in thru the autogate when I drive into the porch. So I always make sure the gate’s closed b4 I unlock the car doors. But wat if they climb over thru neighbour’s wall while I open the main door? *shiver*

  10. Sigh! It really worrying to see this happening in our very own country when it was so peaceful and easy life when we were growing up.

  11. i can feel the same. when they was a time my neighbour (mom’s house) being robbed, the robbery jumped to our house and runaway from our fence. Scary…

  12. Really hor.. what is this country turning into?

I also wished I live in gated community. That’s why nowadays gated community can fetch such a high price.. all these crime helping their market.

  13. yea same here. i dont feel safe at all! at home also not safe…
did you hear about the mat rempits who robbed 2 ladies in a car when they were at the traffic lights or smething?

  14. you know, i rent out my Puchong house, the tenant told me one day the house kena masuk pencuri too, also from the sliding door..so scary, dangerous everywhere now.

  15. Two of my neighbours’ houses were broken into on the same day, two years back. After that, I purchase insurance for my house, which covers for the lost in the event of break-in and some other things.

If that unfortunate incident was to happen, I prefer it to happen when we are not in the house.

  16. There are just too many such incidents happening nowadays and it’s really scary. I also wonder will a house alarm make any difference? Even if the alarm goes off, will the neighbours come over to check?

  17. Might be good to install an alarm system if you currently dont have one… at least its one of the deterrents. Our house got saved by the alarm for many occassions…
