So remember we ordered the Cartoon Car Cake for Vyktore’s Birthday. And I mentioned in that post that I almost wanted to burn that shop down. So what actually happened?
I went to Cake Sense TTDI to place the order on Thursday (party on Sunday). I never did like this Cake Sense branch, but I place the order there cause it was more convenient.
So on Sunday evening, I went there to collect the cake, at 5pm. I didn’t check, thinking that it should be alright. When I arrived home, Cheryl was already at home and greeted me. So I put the cake down and first thing we thought, lets have a look at the cake.
The moment I open up the cake, I got a shock. Nope, not because it has 2 finger prints on top (like the LO above, that was actually left by Vyktore later on). But they gave me a wrong cake. It was a Cake covered with chocolate toppings and stated Happy Father’s Day bla bla bla….arghh…I was like how can mistake.
So instantly we rush back to TTDI to exchange for the correct 1. Cheryl got down as I couldn’t get a parking. But a few minutes passed and she didn’t return with any cake. So I double park my car and went down to check.
The worker there were struggling looking for the cake and when I questioned them, they can’t answer me. The chef was all ready to go home holding her bag. Then she told the worker, she didn’t have any order that require her to bake the cartoon car cake. I stood there waiting (by the kitchen).
And guess what, I saw the worker, carefully take out the order note from the side of the counter top. Apparently my cake order fell in between the top and wall and nobody realised it :|.
Next minute what else, I was fuming mad. The chef told me to come back at 7pm and pick up the cake. I instantly flamed her. Not only they wasted my Petrol going back and forth, now they want me come back at 7pm, just because it’s their mistake didn’t get the cake prepared!! I told them today is My Son’s 2yo birthday and party is starting at 7pm. They better make sure they can do some magic and send the cake to my house at 7pm!!
The chef instantly knew it was their fault. Hence she said OK. She’s gonna send it. Then she quickly started work. Not baking the cake, but took out a sponge cake from the fridge (already pre-bake) and start putting all the stuff together.
She requested me to draw a map for her. And I did before I left the shop in fumes.
So that was the story. You say should be angry or not? Never never go back to that branch anymore. Sucks big time. I prefer the one in Taman Megah. I’m not trying to be racist here, but sometimes when you hire foreign worker, make sure you train them properly. If not they do wrong things also they don’t know and pity your business only. That worker was still smiling at me when I left the cake shop eventhough I’m so mad at him. And he didn’t even say he’s sorry *pengsan*.

Wahhhhh I would have killed someone man!!!!! I also had a similarly bad experience at Secret Recipe TTDI. Fools!

Fortunately you checked the cake, imagine opening it during the party. I always check the cake in the shop before I take it out. I am always anxious of how the picture turn out.

Aiyo, what a bad experience and can imagine how desperate u were at dat time. Luckily they realised they were at fault and could get the cake on time. Me too, I don’t trust those ‘foreign’ workers and sometimes don’t even understand what we are talking/ordering.

Yeah, I guess you have a point there… these workers don’t give a shit about what is going on… they just go to work, get fed and that its!

i bought some bakery from cake sense but not that branch, it wasnt fresh at all! i have ordered from baker’s cottage and the cakes were fresh and good. secret recipe is also provides good service.. thks for the info though

Aiyoo…. that’s terrible. Imagine everything ready except the cake, and it’s not even your fault. They’re supposed to be careful about these things as they’re in-charge of special occasions ma :S A cake house what…

I agree that they should have given u the cake for free, for all that trouble. Well think of it this way….they’ll only do it to you this one time….but word of mouth will spread forever…

Whoa, that’s the worst that can happen. Ordered the cake but not made because someone dropped the order docket somewhere.
Last time I ordered a secret recipe cake with normal design… they took it out from the fridge and I checked, it was “bruised” at the side with the sponge cake visible… they immediately change a new one. So far never had such incident like that you had.
Luckily they managed to get the cake ready for the party. If not, Vyktore boy wud be so disappointed if there was no Cars on it.
If I were you, I would burn down the shop too and not before my hubby gave some kung fu chop to the staff there….heheheheh. I’ll make sure I won’t go to that bakery to order my cakes 😀
That’s terrible customer service. I wouldn’t go there again too! Luckily, Vyktore got his cake after all. At least it wasn’t all a disaster, the chef didn’t leave just before you arrived!!!!
Speaking of that, I was thinking of getting Sean a “Lightning McQueen” cake for his birthday too! =D
Agree with you that foreign workers in front line customer service roles will harm the business, maybe without the boss even realising it. I went to the new Kluang Kopitiam in Jaya 1 with several collegues which was manned fully by foreign workers. Needless to say, service sucks and was extremely slow. A big difference compared to the branch in 1-U.

most cake are pre bake. when u order a a cake, here do the magic mix n match cake.(wualaa)here come ur “FRESH” cake.
In others ways,If u wish to buy a well made cake, u can ask for the “fresh” one. They might give u the almost expired n “garanti” is FRESH….geli..
REally? I’ve never had any problem with the Cake SEnse near my area. Maybe not the same la.. Anyway, was furious reading it. That’s why i prefer baking my own cakes 😀
I have stopped going to sense cake shop because of their bad service too…
Had many bad experiences with them that enough is enough…now i will go to lamanila ttdi for my breads and cakes…
